Recruiting in the Deep South

I’m a little biased now but South Carolina is a state I wish we would see more

Clemson kinda does their own thing and USCe isn’t really a strong draw for local players

Realize we can’t be everywhere all the time but SC and Virginia have always felt like underrated places to recruit
great minds think alike i have only been saying this for five years or more now.

757 CHESAPEAKE- and SC FOR (OL-DL)

South Carolina produces a ton of freak athletes.

They usually have very high upside & athletic profile.

South Carolina got CB's/Safeties & North Carolina got EDGE/DT's in every class that end up being very good high end players after 3-4 years of development.

I’ve lived in both areas and besides being full of goons it’s also I think areas that would love to live on south beach for a few years

Like they are usually within a few hours of the Atlantic but nothing like Miami

Virginia Beach or Myrtle beach vs South Beach? 🤣

Gaffney, Inman, Spartanburg, Rock Hill, Roebuck etc to me there doesn’t seem to be much if any investment into high school football

I could be wrong. I’m newer to the state and don’t know a ton of details but I know for sure Beamer has no loyalty here yet. People still talk about Steve Spurrier around here ffs though last year created some buzz for sure. It’s still really close to Tennessee and kids seem to root for them

@DMoney from the 3/6/26 Bank. Another deep south/Mississippi priority (Nolan Wilson)

Some names to add to the board: RB Henry Ohlinger (Columbus, OH), LB Jacob Eberhart (St. Louis, MO) DE Luke Wafle (Princeton, NJ), DL Corey Wells (Hattiesburg, MS), Nolan Wilson (Pearl River, MS) and DL Keshawn Stancil (Raleigh, NC).

You get some skill players out of the upstate area, more-so than OL/DL for sure. 5A is the highest class in the state, and in many cases there's more talent in smaller schools.

South of Spartanburg is Clinton High School and they always have some really talented players. Then you have the smaller charter schools that tend to attract quite a bit of talent as well.

Dillon, Belton-Honea Path, Florence, Marlboro County, Abbeville, South Aiken, Sumter, are all small school areas that produce talent pretty regularly.

Then you have schools like Summerville, Irmo, Westside, Dutch Fork who all produce a fair amount of talent. South Point around Rock Hill used to be, but you dont hear much about them lately

If you want them OL/DL you have to get out of the city and into the country, around here

Feel like most of this will be a waste. Those kids always end up in SEC or Ole Miss I feel like
You could say the same for South FL.

In the 2023 class, Oregon signed a 4-star RB outta Mississippi.
In the 24 class, UF signed a 4-star RB, Baylor signed a 4-star DT, Oklahoma got one, even Stanford signed 2 kids from Mississippi. And in last year's class FSU signed a 4-star OG from there as well.

It's always a waste & impossible to sign kids from certain regions... Until you sign one.

Just like we could never get high ranked DB's from Louisiana & then we got one.

Just like we could never get kids from Alabama, the Midwest (Illinois, Ohio etc).. And yet here we are with players from all these regions on our team.

Yes, most kids from Mississippi will sign with a SEC school. But, if your recruiting strategy is to only go after kids based on whether or not you think you can get them due to where they are from regionally, then you're limiting the talent pool from which you can select, which ultimately decreases your chances of fielding the best team.

Somewhat similar to South Florida only obviously not quite as concentrated at least from what I’ve seen

Good skill position players but spotty coaching and resources though again I don’t know a ton of details so don’t want to make too many statements
