Recruiting Chatter - 12/9

I feel the same way. Been following this program for roughly 30+ years and I never thought I would see it struggle so mightily and becomes irrelevant on the national scene. I understood it when we were dealing with probation and scholarship reductions or the cloud of an investigation was hanging over us. But this is different. This is us becoming Wake Forest, Duke, etc. It’s killing me. Without the Schwartz and Soffer family one has to wonder if we would have anything when it comes to facilities. The BOT and leaders of this university just don’t seem to care.
Yea agree 100% with this post....if u watch all the successful teams in any sport and cfb....it seems when the team is tailored to stay on the scene for 3 plus years and more...the upper brass always goes out of their own way to make sure winning is the top priority. All schools have the gimmicks to keep fans spending like us and I'm sure there is more like UNC Duke USC etc......the schools that pretend to build champions are being run into the ground and all they care about is that dollar. Do the elites care for.money? **** yea but they want winning more and then that money comes in off of the winning.

Never thought I would already accept the U as a has been program cause it's who we are now and I can go on a ban bet that we will never be back ever again. I'm that positive that it's over and I love coming here and talking to people and going back and forth.

Im never hyped up on who signs and who doesnt, at the end of the day, im more interested in the development of last year's freshmen and redshirt freshmen, sophmores and juniors. If these True freshmen come in and start taking to many spots, we not winning much, this isnt the "fab sport" this is football, grown man game out the gate!

I liked the flashes bubba bolden showed, trevon Hill was a quality get and should have been starting game 1, Thomas misusage is on the staff. Jaelan Phillips imo is going to be a monster next year, Diaz mentioned him yesterday and he’s added weight. There are still talented gets out there and if they can help the team we need to go after them

Brock, did u read my post? Lol

Tommy K was NOT a no show.

I saw him cheering from the sidelines in EVERY game.

MAJOR difference maker.

Surprised he didn’t get more burn due to his “sincere” enthusiasm on the bench. Lol

honestly not sure why people are destroying the staff about recruiting when you put it into perspective with how the season went. I’d rather have top 10 class and gone to the ACc championship but here we are. All things considered. The wheels haven’t completely fallen off. Next year is make or break for this staff.

I'm with you. When I read 95% of the bull**** on here it's impossible not to wonder their age. It's like they watch football but dont really understand the game let alone recruiting. The same 95% start the same lame bull**** threads over and over.

The guy can sell for sure. I mean look at the majority of this board as of January of this year for example. We all wanted to believe so bad. The problem is that this will be the only recruiting cycle
that he can take advantage of the #TNM slogan . He’ll be full exposed next season and recruits won’t buy in any longer. Come in on a yacht and go out on a dingy will be the reality of this program.

You wanted to believe a red shirt freshman with zero experience and two other freshman on the oline were going to do what? Carry the team? Really.

Hopefully it's a true freshman behind the OL after spring practice.

There are some very good players in this recruiting class, and for that the staff deserves credit.

But there are also glaring holes in this recruiting class. The offensive line is atrocious and we are bringing in one player, Rivers, who goes to address that issue. He will likely start immediately. The other OL commits will likely never sniff the field.

We have seen the evidence for the need for speed at CB. It isn't coming in this class.

Finally, if you want to really change the game, you've got to land a blue-chipper on the final day where you weren't the favorite to get him. It's a tough standard, but it's how the great recruiters separate themselves from the merely good.

The Class of '20 is a good one, but it isn't a great one. It's complicated.

I agree with everything you said. It’s not good enough and exactly why miami has been average for over 15 years. Manny will have to hit the portal again for OL and CB.

I honestly don’t care when we land the blue chippers. Yes it seems we always fail on NSD but if you landed 95% of your target already, does it really matter outside of national media perception?

It matters in that just one extra blue-chipper in each class likely adds up to several more talented starters over the course of a 4-year cycle. That's why things matter at the margins. It's how you go from mediocre to consistently good.

Losing one recruiting battle doesn't kill a program, but until we start winning some of these "50-50" or longshot 11th hour battles, we're not going to have the roster we need to seriously compete.

We have a handful of blue chip players in this class.
Unfortunately they don’t play the positions we need the most help at. (OL, CB and LB.

Cb as it stands right now only currently has blue chip recruits on the roster. Guys like couch and Christian Williams need to play more on the base defense. At oline jalen rivers is one but we need another one

Chhhhhhhhhhhhhit; what we do w the Portal this yr, bruh?
Tate played zero and didn’t get a fair chance, but at least it landed him a little baddie he done disappeared w to Gilligan’s Island. Lol.

Hill finally had some nice rotation in the latter 6 games.

The DT from UCLA was barely noticed.

Bubba Bolden finally got burn in what, game 4 or 5, then got injured.

Tommy K was a no show.

Jaelen may get some burn, next yr

For some reason, KJ stopped being our go to after the VT game, but at least we did start putting him on punt return

And JT4 was used less this yr than the yr he decided to leave the program.

Exactly, not only is our scheme terrible,

Manny’s personnel decisions are just as bad.

How exactly is he not?

We have the 11th ranked class by player average in a 6-6 season, say what you want about his coaching but clearly he sells the program well and relates to the kids if we have a good class after this ****hole of a season

Most publications have us at 15th.

And if you look at our average player rating we 8 points back of the elite schools.

We are barely ahead of UNC, Penn State and others.

Those schools are also in play for more recruits. If those coaches land their prospects and we wiff based the way things are looking and historically how this staff has finished then our class is going to fall.

The fact that Delancey is not on this weekends visitor list was enough for me to schedule my colonoscopy for early signing day. As much as I love Clarke, he is a project at CB, and I see nobody else who is as polished as Delancey with his speed on UM’s radar.

Golden's number 10 class in 2012 was ranked 10 because it had 32 recruits, it's player average was .8789, would you really consider that a Top 15 class?

His 2013 class was ranked 14 with a .8840 average, decent

2014 ranked 12 but had 27 commits and a .8807 average

2015/2016 were disasters

I agree this class will be marginally better from a rating standpoint than those. And likely better from a real football standpoint as well. I like a lot of the takes here personally. But the Golden staff was a disaster at recruiting and ruined a lot of relationships locally because of it. And still yet managed to recruit at a comparable level despite their incompetence.

Point is what Diaz and his staff are doing isn't that impressive relative to what other coaches have accomplished here in recent history.

cool that we have some on the roster but you have to reload every year. That’s what the elite teams do. We can’t keep having classes where we miss on an entire position.
