Recruiting chat 12/5

Peter, 2018 question for you. James Cook...I feel could flip from FSU. I get the feeling that he is annoyed being in his brother's shadow and he loves the U. What are the chances he ends up a cane when all is said and done?

CJ Henderson's recruitment is so bizarre. He's been meh on Miami forever, yet he visits every other day. He's rumored to be a Gator lock but he has t committed. Has he even OV'd there yet?

What's his deal? Does he just love Torian Gray? Is it because of Shannon? Just wants to get away from the city and do his own thing?

Just really strange.

Bandy was 4.51 at NIKE combine at 5'10" 182.

If you could build a CB in a lab, it would be Bandy. He is a 5 star player end of story.

Just compare him to Artie Burns who ran 4.5 at Nike Combine but is slightly taller.

Football Recruiting - Artie Burns - Player Profiles - ESPN

Trajan Bandy - Football Recruiting - Player Profiles - ESPN

Deejay Dallas and Trajan Bandy are 5 star corners in my book. You add Javonte Dean to go with Malek Young and we are in very good shape. CJ Henderson would be the 5th best CB in that group so I understand why he is considering UF.

Deejay's upside at CB is off the charts when you consider his physical and mental makeup.

Compare his speed with Bandy and Malek....

Trajan Bandy 100 meter 11.24 (Trajan Bandy - FL Track and Field Profile)
DeeJay Dallas 100 meter 11.30 (Deejay Dallas - GA Track and Field Profile)
Malek Young 100 meter 10.95 (Malek Young - FL Track and Field Profile)

I know Henderson is faster than these guys (10.77 best 100 meter on a very fast track); however, he does not measure up physically nor is he as tough..

Very good. I remember when Carolcityhigh posted these comparison some time back. Good you bring them up again. Also he posted that Bandy was a 4.68-40 and Henderson 4.35 at the Nike.

If I could build a CB in a Lab it would be Patrick Peterson. IDK what you're talking about, no way in **** I'm building a 5'9" cb in a lab. Doesn't mean he can't be a beast, but lets not act like hes a prototypical cb.

I agree, I mean don't get me wrong, Bandy could end up being a stud, but if I'm building a cb in a lab he would be at least 6'0 and run a sub 4.4 40 like Peterson did.

Could the addition of the 2 Heritage boys play a factor in Kaaya's "Recruitment"?

Essentially, do you think the potential harm posed by the current line is a major factor, and could high quality recruits bridge the gap to keeping him another year?

I highly doubt Kaaya is going to make up his mind based on two 18 year old linemen, especially after seeing McDermott and (to a lesser degree) Darling fail to live up to their hype first hand.

I know there's a million questions about receiver, so here's my take...

I like Evidence Njoku more and more -- it looks like he could be really good.

They have been confident on Smith for months but it's just tough to see that one holding up.

They will flip Harley.

They will land a JUCO prospect.

And they will round out the class with Smith/Jeudy(unlikely but still possible)/a name we haven't heard yet

I know everybody is worried about how they will finish here, but it just does not make ANY sense to me that they're just waiting around not offering anybody. They have to know something that the public doesn't. It's similar to what's happening at OL with the Heritage kids and part of my reasoning for being so confident on them along with other things I've heard. If they felt like they were screwed, we would see them scrambling and they obviously don't see that right now.

why another JUCO WR ?

Dayall Harris part 2...

Yeah if you think like that then you 100% miss out on guys like:

DeDe Westbrook
Duke Williams
Cordarrelle Patterson
Jaelen Strong

Just to name a few recent ones that we'd kill to have for next season.

exactly. my friend was Jaelen's position coach in HS. he was actually a running back, didnt become WR until JUCO. he was telling me how underrated he was and he will be a monster at FBS level. i laughed but the kid was great at ASU and is on the Texans getting burn.

Pete-does Burns ever get meaningful Burn at miami-pun intended

Don't think so

Then what's the appeal for the coaches? Upside? Taking a chance in a big class?

Was just thinking this same question. But I guess it has to be the upside. With a very strong local RB class next year and all signs pointing to McFarland coming here, get Burns on campus and see if he can turn it around with all the injuries. The kid clearly wants to be here and has talent. Worth a take IMO.

He worships the ground that **** Tabor & Quincy Wilson walk on...

& his Dad is in love with Shannon... That's it.

Pretty sure the only reason he's not committed to UF is because Shannon might not be there in january.

If there is a chance RS may not be there in January what are the odds he is there the year after or even the next 3? No way you choose a school on a position coach who is not even the coach of your own position.

I agree. I get the feeling Henderson's gut is telling him Miami, but his daddy and "mentors" are all UF. Thus the internal struggle. Absent a Shannon departure, I think he goes UF.

Kids aren't that smart. If Mcelwain doesn't get a solid transfer QB he'll probably be gone after next season too.

Why isn't Vero Beach WR Mike Smith not getting a look. 67 receptions 1,561 yards, 24 TD's this year. Plus he's 6'3" and 215lbs. I've seen him in person 4 times this year and he is about as legit as it gets.

Just because they got Dayall Harris last year doesn't mean they are going out to get the next Dayall Harris...

Good we dont need anymore 7 on 7 all stars ! ... aint none of the top juco WR'S coming to UM

Is it possible Pete was referring to Artie Burns' brother, and not Robert Burns? No way he's talking about Robert Burns never getting meaningful burn.

For an explanation regarding Henderson's recruitment, look no further than my post from June, 2016, titled, "The dirty world of S. Fla recruiting.....

I know we have yet to finish a bulk of our recruiting especially on the offensive side of the ball, but I get the feeling we're focusing on making the identity of the team the defense. I just feel like we're getting great talent and guys that fit perfect into the scheme on that side of the ball. Would you agree?
