hes not wrong on where well land likely. if we land in the 10-12 range, it would be a massive failure imo

People push positivity because it’s easy to do when you have a great recruiter like Mario, they feel they’re cheating the house with their predictions lol. Well it’s not that easy even for Mario. YT channels and pay sites need positivity to keep people coming back. Folks won’t be subscribing , donating or viewing your content if it’s a constant crap sandwich. That’s just facts. I make nothing from this and I‘m independent. I say what I feel and don’t care who it upsets , I don’t have to live in fear of losing info because I’ve hurt somebodies feelings with a truth sandwich.

Thats why I appreciate D$ so much , he is positive but he’s also truthful and realistic. He never said a top five class or pushed rainbows and unicorns. He said what he was told and that was this years DL was the focus like last year with the OL. To be honest he’s pretty conservative with the prediction stuff but he’s normally first on who’s getting offers or who the staff is pushing for, that’s not even on anyone’s radar. On top of that he knows when most commits are happening and rarely says a word. Thats why Cis is the best site for this stuff imo. And it’s free.

It only take a few big ones to change the trend. That’s why the season is so big. A big season likely adds a few guys you had no chance at before. One good week can shoot you up 5-10 spots. It’s still early. As I’ve been saying “ let’s talk after July“, if we’re still in the 20’s or high teens we can get nervous.

I def respect the info I just legit think the DL hype was because JT is a rookie recruiter and kids told him what he wanted to hear and it was communicated out that we were crushing it with DL personnel. When we weren’t.

That just seems hard to believe, the NIL that is. All these kids just saw the worst season in two generations here. Whole staff got flipped over in under a calendar year. I’m not surprised Mario is taking a beating. His stock has never been lower.

Ok then why don’t you compare Lane’s time at USC and Mario’s time Oregon?

Both had 1st round QBs (Barkley and Herbert).

Mario went 35-13 with 2 PAC 12 championships. Lane went 25-13 with no PAC 12 championships.

Lane was fired on a tarmac. Mario wasn’t.

The hype was warranted on the DL but some went wild with their takes. Just ridiculous , “ we getting errrrrrbody” . If you’ve followed recruiting long enough you know that’s not happening with DL and especially DT’s. Theres very few dancing bears walking this earth and thats why they’re so valuable. Some of these cats have their O&G glasses on so thick they can’t see straight.

Just split on the top guys or **** even a quarter and you have a good DL class.

Both had bad seasons as well last year. They’re recruiting just fine. The record excuse is bull****. The money is there the kids are going to take it.

Huh?! What does this even have to do with the cost of PH Premium? Lane was like a first time (unless we count UT) HC in 2010. Mario was HC at FIU. That's a better comparison than what you just offered.

Agreed on the big season , I guess I’m just thinking about things purely from a numbers standpoint. We either have to have a big class and virtually get only 4-star and higher guys from here on out , or we have to land a more than a couple top 20-25 type guys . I just don’t recall recently many top 10 classes where over or near half of it was 3 stars , outside of ones that were big classes numbers wise . I could be wrong tho

I have said it before and I will say it again, any recruiting class ranked outside of the top 10 with Mario as HC is a fail.

You cannot pay a HC $8M per who brings absolutely nothing as an Xs and Os guy, is pretty brutal on gameday and has a track record of losing 1-2 games per year he should never lose if the one thing he is good at he can't deliver on. It just can't happen.

While I never believed he should be expected to bring in top 5 classes (he has never done it) which some expect, I do believe he should absolutely be expected to bring in classes ranked 6th-10th year in and year out.

While our performance the last 20 years may lead you to believe that we shouldn't be a tier 2 program when it comes to recruiting, with our new found investment in the program and our national brand, we absolutely are.

We are never going to overtake tier 1 programs such as Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State, but there is zero reason for us to not be in the next tier. Especially when most would have you believe that outside of Saban and Smart (due to winning), Mario is supposed to be the best HC when it comes to recruiting.

No more excuses. No more placing the blame. Get it done. Even Mario would tell outside the top 10 is unacceptable.

How much does dabo make and what are his class rankings? They aren’t always top 10 are they?

Agreed per player shows true value of class. I don’t follow Clemson much so wasn’t sure but they don’t seem to be talked about a bunch with recruiting top dog schools
