RB Damien Martinez transfers to Miami

Just wanted to highlight Pete on the recent podcast said Jonathan Taylor (RB for the Colts) was training with Martinez in Tampa or wherever before Martinez enrolled. It is worth a listen but Taylor said the following (paraphrasing)

Martinez came to the facility weighing 235lbs, Taylor's first impression was this dude is big, he is a load and before they started agility drills he was questioning Martinez ability to do the drill effectively at his weight but then became wowed at his ability/movement skills at that size and thinks he can be one of the top backs taken in the draft. Said he works very hard and also trained with Gore/Gore Jr. and he lost 10lbs getting used to Miami humidity so he is now a rocked up 225, said the ACC is going to get to know him very very early.
We haven’t seen anything at RB like this dude in a long *** time

I forget who it may have been @Dwinstitles so ill tag him but he was one who watched his highlights and thought he was good, then heard he was 230+ and was like oh **** that puts him on another level to be that big and move that well. Seems Taylor thought the same thing based on initial appearances.

Ariz, its the new CIS pod that dropped today, He also spoke briefly about DJ and SlimeTo, apparently D$ feels good about both and thinks Miami is in strong position to get both but I found it odd both D$ (through Pete) and other "insiders" have all hinted that Miami may not be the pick on the 17th for Pickett but everyone still expects him in the class.

Yea that changed everything for me, its the same when u watch a Saquon for example. U watch the film and u say yo he's explosive nice back, but then u see 230 and your like oh **** he can run through arm tackles. A guy like CJ with all that speed cant do that and it hinders your ability to play at this level IMO, because once someone touches you all the speed is out the window and the rest of the defense is already on you full speed to kill you.

There's no shock here, or at least there shouldn't be.

Damien Martinez without question, is one of the 10 best RB's in the Nation. We hit the jackpot with adding him.

Same for Killa Cam & Smooth Sam.

We pretty much won the lottery sweepstakes in the Portal this year.

I feel like this dude is going to end up being our best pickup even more than ward.
Nah, and I mean that with all due respect to the player Martinez is but Cam is a mega stud at a more important position. I don’t think people realize how impotent Cam is. This is a borderline 8 win team without Cam, with him our ceiling is undefeated.

Seniority. Hopefully JoJo handled it well and knows he’ll have his number back next year when Martinez leaves.
I don’t think JoJo personally cares about #6. It probably was just the only single digit number available after the upperclassman picked their number first
