RB Damien Martinez transfers to Miami

So 35 points with 3 turnovers.

Miami in ‘23, with an experienced TVD, scored 17 points before what analytics would consider garbage time.

14 of Miami’s points came with 7 minutes left when UNC was up 3 TDs and the game was over.
they still had their starters playing. It wasn't garbage time

honestly, i think in the modern age these young RBs understand that having a ton of tread on your tires isn't actually beneficial once you get to the league. we're not in the 90s or early 2000s anymore when you'd see bellcow RBs getting drafted in the top 5-10. teams are pretty judicious about the skillsets of the guys they're drafting and you'll see sub-1k backs go relatively early, so it's really about the quality of your tape and your measurables rather than the bulk stats.

Just wanted to highlight Pete on the recent podcast said Jonathan Taylor (RB for the Colts) was training with Martinez in Tampa or wherever before Martinez enrolled. It is worth a listen but Taylor said the following (paraphrasing)

Martinez came to the facility weighing 235lbs, Taylor's first impression was this dude is big, he is a load and before they started agility drills he was questioning Martinez ability to do the drill effectively at his weight but then became wowed at his ability/movement skills at that size and thinks he can be one of the top backs taken in the draft. Said he works very hard and also trained with Gore/Gore Jr. and he lost 10lbs getting used to Miami humidity so he is now a rocked up 225, said the ACC is going to get to know him very very early.
