Rayshawn Jenkins out for the year

Don't think we will see Jenkins start again. I really like him and thought he played about as well as could be expected his freshmen year, but with the talent already closing the gap at safety and the possibility of who we are bringing In,I don't think he will be able to get his position back.

I bet he will.
I wish him nothing but good luck.

Bulk him up & move him to OLB. He has the frame for it.

Get well soon kid.

That guy's named Fudge? I'd hate to be named Fudge. First name or last name.

Denzel, Armbrister collided with Rayshawn Jenkins in scrimmage Wednesday in pass coverage. That's how Jenkins was hurt #UM

Hope he works his *** off for the next year (weight room when he can and film) and comes back strong for 2015, we will need him.

I think Jenkins was good yes. But he also had lot of inconsistencies as the season went on last year.

Wouldn't guarantee him as a starter next year when he comes back , he definitley will be in the two deep next yesr and I felt like he lost any chance of starting this year when he missed spring. He was behind the ball at the moment and battling injuries, heal up and get the medical.

I know about the raves about Gayot, my personal opinion, expecting Hester to have more impact by end of season coming into the two deep.

Better hope Deon is healthy, a healthy Deon is huge for our defense.

Expecting Deon, Dallas and Jamal to do big things this year.

Well someone really needs to step up now. Jenkins, like you said was inconsistent but he had two years of experience under his belt and was a very good athlete. Deon while supremely athletic is still a question mark. I know Im gonna get heat for this, but I think Dallas is gonna end up being a Greentree legend, kid was moved to RB when we had major major issues at safety. Carter from all accounts is gonna be a stud but who comes after him? Gayot and Hester are true freshmen, and Gayot until I see him do it in a game is a WLB prospect more than a safety. I think this is a pretty big lose all in all, we can get around it, but still a big lose. So the next question is, do we try Burns back there if nobody else steps up?

Heres the thing. Dallas was also scout MVP for defense during his freshman year.

I am actually one who wasnt happy with his move to runnigback. Was he good at runningback, yeah. But not great.

He is and always been a natural safety. Has a knack for the ball. You don't intercept 19 passes in two years like its easy(High School Days). And he also played QB so he understands more what they do and what they see. And he hits like a brick. Dallas always been a natural for the safety position and I was calling it before I even came here for him to move back to safety.

Dallas doesn't have the same measurables as Deon and Dallas in height and weight, but a comparison for Dallas which is another guy on the team is Grace. He doesn't have the ideal weight but the guy is a stud, and he knows the game. It's not always about the size in football.

Theirs been many great football players who were not the ideal size. Dallas is one of those, he is a pure football player.

As for Deon, we know what he can do when he is healthy and focused. He's healthy again and I expect him to be back in form. Many canes in past have had slump years. Some recent ones in Spence and Denzel with injury riddled 2nd years like Bush had. I expect Bush to be our best this year at safety. Just needs to stay healthy.

Carter I think has the most potential of all them. Gym Rat. Athletic freak, and he was my favorite defensive recruit from his class. And he has shown he is picking the game up faster now but doesnt have the same experience as Deon and Dallas yet. But he will.

Would say Deon and Dallas start, but Carter will get as much snaps as them and rotate, along with Deon and Dallas playing some of the nickel/safety role. BUT Carter will challenge both for their jobs this year, if one of Deon and Dallas start to underpeform, they got Jamal breathing down their neck. Thats called competition and it will make all 3 better.

Artie IMO. Will be first corner off bench and will challenge Gunter as season goes. See him making a jump this year like most do in their second year. He could play safety, but I would prefer him at corner.

A lot of raves on Gayot, but im higher on Kiy, Feel he will be the one to step up into the two deep at safety.

Geo, my issue with Crawford is that he just doesn't have the range to play safety in a BCS conference. There have been many many players that have had crazy stats in HS but didn't translate to college. Charlie Jones set rushing records in the best county in the country, but a perfect example is Willie Cooper. Dude was a stud in HS, he had a feel for the game but in the end his lack of range just didn't translate and I'm afraid that will be the case with Dallas.

Practice is one thing. We heard K Thompson was gonna break out at WR for how many years? Bottom line is that we had issues at safety for the last two years, and in that times Dallas was moved to RB. Last year I understand for depth purposes, but in 2012 it was a major head scratcher. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see it. I see Dallas being slightly better than AJ, always in the right position, difference being he will stick the intended target, but I just see him being overmatched in the speed department. Hope I'm wrong cause as I said, we need someone to step up now that Jenkins is injured.

We'll see, but I think Dallas is gonna be a nice one. We'll see. I was always super high on him as a safety.

this is a setback to the defense. we have been missing critical depth for 10 years and losing his experience is a terrible loss.

Feel bad for the kid, but from a football standpoint, not worried. Jenkins was pretty bad last year. He was slow to react and took terrible angles. Was probably going to be relegated to second string this year anyway. One of the freshmens will fill in for that spot and probably won't be much of a dropoff.
