He helps us more when he's on the field on Sundays reppin The U
I think he would be a great LB Coach.
I for one am a huge supporter of bringing back as many former players as possible and just assembling a staff out of them with Golden overseeing everything. Ex: Force Rolle and Reed into retirement and make them the DB coaches. Force Shockey and Olsen to retire, TE coaches. Ken Dorsey and Steve Walsh as the QB coaches. Edge as the RB coach. Get Wilfork's massive *** to retire and become the DL coach along with Sapp. Michael Barrow, Randy Shannon and Ray Lewis as the LB coaches.
Hard to understand this thread. The most inspirational player from UM in the past 20 years, and his presence wouldn't make a difference? I understand the recruiting violation on the 18th, but don't downplay his signifigance. Most of these young cats grew up with him the best MLB in the game!! He wouldn't even have to say a word, just be seen.
Your saying if he talked to a recruit for 5 minutes just bumping into him that would make a huge impact to the recruits decision? I think the recruit would be star struck like most kids and that's about it.

Possibly. There will be 10-12 different mindsets on campus. I think watching a HOFamer on TV, and meeting him on campus at a prospective school would DEFINITELY be a + in favor or that school. Not sure of your age, I am 35. But I could imagine these kids that have been following him all their adolescent "careers" would be awe inspired by his presence. It's not like they are meeting Tavaris Gooden or some average *** player that happened to pass through. Ray might go down as a top 3 MLB of all time with Singletary and Butkis. Not saying it would totally sway anyone, by in no means would it hurt.
Would it be a violation if he was there on the 18th with his son and he started talking to recruits? Not being a wise ***, i really don't know the answer.
I seriously believe the Ray Lewis recruiting for us is one of the most overblown statements made by Canes fans. I'm pretty sure that would be an NCAA violation.
How about he comes on as a religious advisor?
He's a very religious and spiritual man
This puts him in the program, around his son n the team, AND he can go to in home visits
Remember when Meyer made Tebow a religious advisor for the team n brought him along for in home visits?
I think this route makes the most sense. We dont need a LB coach, we have Barrow
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...acker-is-just-my-dad-20130102,0,7737554.story"Many fans love him and might be disappointed about him retiring or whatever else they might be saying and different things like that, but to me he’s just dad," said Ray in a phone interview from Southern California, where the Lake Mary Prep star is preparing for Friday night's Semper Fi All-American Game at The Home Depot Center. "I don’t really look at him as this big athlete or this huge sports figure. To me, he's just my dad.
And like any youngster whose father has decided to retire, Ray III is excited that his dad will have extra time to spend once his career is finished.
"For me it means he'll be around more to see my college games and be involved in my life even more and stuff like that," said the son who many still call Lil Ray.
He's had impressive success at the high school level, racking up more than 9,000 yards as a running back during his career at LMP, scoring nearly 100 touchdowns. He will be listed as an athlete entering his freshman year at Miami, where he will await summer workouts to see where he fits in as far as his position of the future.
"I'll play wherever," said Lewis III, who has been working out as a slot receiver and running back at the Semper Fi practices. "I'll play wherever I fit in or wherever I can help the team."
Now, even though he carries the name of his father, Ray III is out to make his own name ... his own legacy. He's built confidence this week in competing with the all-American types he's come up against in practices. Coming from Lake Mary Prep, a small, Class 2A private school, Lewis III knows he doesn't get the respect or attention that some of the players from bigger schools have received.
He was even a little concerned about how he would perform this week.
"Definitely and it was not because I was coming in here scared or anything, but I was anxious to see what it would be like," Ray III said. "Everybody always talks about me like this little 2A talent. All these other people are from huge schools and the game is so much faster and everyone is strong and there is more athleticism than at the level I'm used to, but all of us here are like that. Everybody here is going to big D-1 schools.
"So far people are saying that I'm doing great. I already knew I had it in me to perform, but it's nice to hear it from the other people like the analysts and other people who see that I can compete. It just gives me even more confidence and motivation to compete even harder."
He's ready to get to work in preparation for his Miami career. He's even more excited to know that he has a workout partner who will help push him to his limits.
"I can't wait to get started doing some more college-type workouts with my dad," Lewis III said. His dad makes his offseason home in Boca Raton, almost right in the middle between Lake Mary and the Miami campus in Coral Gables. "He'll be around even more now to help me in getting prepared. It will be nice."

Wow. No. How many of these guys are going to be willing to work 90 hours a week, every week, for $300k a year? And they have NO COACHING EXPERIENCE. It just doesn't work this way. They'd need to start as a GA or at a "quality control" spot, or at a HS or low, low level college program.
