I mean what could he do when the university's president is taking checks and posing with him on TV... He told them to stay away yet all the powers to be (AD and pres) daid he was cool... Can't blame him for that and most of the allegations was dating back to like 04... Shapiro was a rat lurking around the school for a while.... The one person that spoke up was ignored... Wasn't his fault...

Sorry, the then head coach does bear blame, though fortunately we dodged an NCAA bullet on that one. He was the boss and the mess happened on his watch. He obviously knew the deal on Shapiro and apparently shied away, but assistant coaches - including his pal Hurtt - were taking kids to Nevin and using him as a recruiting tool. Very hard to believe word never filtered back, but if the case then shame on him for being asleep and disengaged on the job.

It was reported he made it known to stay away from the guy... What do you think happens when the entire football community undermine you because Shapiro is buddy buddies with the AD and the president is taking checks from him... Shapiro was running wild for like 8 years... You can't blame the HC because the entire institution ignored him until it was too late... And according to the reports what we penalized with was quite minor due to their findings... However he was trying to get us on alleged dirt from 2003/2004...
However, you're right to an extent... RS hired a staff that undermined him... From Whipple to Hurtt... You need everyone to be on the same page but them again when your AD and president disregard your warnings, what do you think will happen?
