So in these next few months what happened.....

Miami’s class ranks No. 1 in the country.

“It’s awesome,” cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph said. “We’ve got some really good kids, some national kids that they’re starting to believe in the University of Miami and once that starts it’s a downhill affect where down the line it’s going to be hard for kids to come because we’re going to have so many really good kids in front of them.

“Coach (Mark) Richt talks about it all the time as far as just being a good recruiter and staying tenacious about staying on top of the kids and this staff has done a great job and has taught me a lot as far as doing those things well too.”

Rumph is in his second year at Miami after a three-year stint as head coach of American Heritage School winning two state titles and producing a number of Division I players.

As a recent high school coach, he has a perspective on the impact of a school gaining momentum in the recruiting world.

“These kids all know each other with all of the 7-on-7s going on so when half the kids on your 7-on-7 team are committed to UM and talking about the University of Miami, it’s easy for it to appeal to them,” Rumph said. “We have that advantage with South Florida because they come to practice and they come to our scrimmages to see what we’re doing. The proof is in the pudding.

“All we’ve got to continue as a team is putting good products out there and just staying on top of the kids with what they’re doing, keeping in touch with them, and when the season rolls around and we’re a playoff team and we’re excellent or what we should be doing as a team there’s going to be a lot of kids trying to get into the University of Miami.”

tellin yall he got that elephant tranquilizer dart personality

Have you met him? Because that is not the impression I got from him.

Pete had a geo moment, everyone calm down.

It kept me entertained for the day. Geo would have made it super cryptic though to try and protect himself. Pete at least put his balls on the table.

I'll say this. Gilbert Frierson might be on the verge of decommitting.

What I'm really curious about Pete is if you know what's really going on with gil & Georgia than why don't you just tell these people about jobe & bama unless you're not aware of it... I've been telling y'all for months we holding on by real thin strings to this class. All that being said no matter what these made schools are doing we WILL be in it until signing day

This is very ominous coming from one of the best insiders on the board. Definitely cause for concern, but I guess we will wait on Pete's response.

This is real simple & people make it more than what it is. If you're not aware COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS A HUGE BUSINESS! some places (sec who doesn't have to deal with legitimate concerns from the ncaa reprisals)are far more invested in it than others... everyone thinks this kid doesn't want to be here oh boo hoo... reality is this & feel free to judge but as a inner city kid who comes from next to nothing or meager at best surroundings what do you realistically expect these kids to say when Nick savant flus a chopper in to drop you off your new car keys,to drop you 200k in cash,to give your family the keys & paperwork to a new house... when Kirby smart hands you 350k... What then? You're all **** liars if you judge these children who are forced to make that call. For some it's a simple game to collect for visits & tweets etc till signing day knowing these people paid upfront. Only so much they can do without ****ing themselves than others just take the easy route...

So legit question on this... when Richt was at GA how much was he playing those same games? We talk about all of the other schools doing it (and I don't doubt that it happens at all), but when Richt was at GA, he did pretty well recruiting in a conf the NCAA 'doesn't care about enforcing' (I think it's more that those schools don't have turncoat boosters) and where Kirby Smart 'hands you 350K', I find it hard to believe he was not doing the same games. And if so, then he must have some pretty conflicted feelings right now.

Kirby has recruited at a higher level than Richt did at UGA. Just compare their recruiting classes. Georgia fans also bashed Richt on their message boards for being too ethical/moral and not being willing to play the recruiting bag games.

**** just look at the Laremy Tunsil story. He was all but committed to UGA until Ole Miss came in and made a huge offer. Look at Zamir White. He commits to Kirby at UGA and a couple days later posts a picture of him with a brand new BMW on his instagram.

Richt is a **** of a recruiter, but you're always going to lose kids who value bags more than anything else. Kirby is a joke of a coach, but they're going to have a great class because of the $ they offer.

That's understandable. I had a chance to spend a few hours with him having a couple beers at a flanigans since he was there with a mutual friend. The guy was down to earth, respectful , and fun to be around. He's not a rah rah guy but then again neither it Mark Richt. Last but not least, he's got a real deep deep love for the U, just like all of us.

I know he's under a lot of pressure not to let this class fall apart and "pull his weight" (deservedly so). I'm really hoping he succeeds not just because it means UM is getting the players they want, but also because I feel he is a genuine man and would be a good role model for our student athletes.

I'll take the L here but it looks like the situation has been cleared up for now. No decommitment imminent

Crisis adverted for now, will be something to monitor for sure though

So did you post that to indicate that your independent sources gave you the same information as Pete's, or to prove that you can paraphrase Pete?

Thanks for the info, though, I didn't believe Pete until I saw your post.

Thought the same thing. And class #2 for ol' Kirbs is not looking too good.

By NLI day- I think you'll see a very different class. This happens every year and people seem to think it will change. Big boy schools come in and offer something they can't resist. Been that way since before Jimmy. Money talks and bull**** walks. Add to the fact that these sofla divas and family have zero loyalty.

I've said it for years now that we either need to play the game($) or change the recruiting blueprint. If Richt isn't willing to play the game he may aswell step down now. Looks what guys like Patrick Peterson and dalvin cook can do for a program. Bought and payed for.

Just got caught up in this thread...what an interesting day it was

You are one weird guy, I have NEVER claimed to be an insider, now hop off my d*ck... I'm just here to get news from peter, dmoney and a couple of others. If it's relevant to our canes I try to help the boards out and post the news... that's it
