Pete, do you know what happened specifically that made such a change for Gilbert?

He went from reppin hard recruiting others guys to the class, to all but signed & sealed to UGA, it doesn't sound like the staff cooed so what's really going on?

Also, are they just going to let him go, or will they keep trying to til Dec-Feb?

I really don't know honestly. All I know is that 2 days ago I got a call from somebody who said for the first time Miami was legitimately concerned about losing him. Then this afternoon I got word from Frierson's side that something was brewing and a decommit was likely.

The early sense I get is that Miami won't be going 'balls to the wall' to get him back. It's too early to say for sure whether or not they plan on continuing to recruit him, but again I get the feeling he might fall off of Miami's radar for a bit at least.
The part I put in bold is one of the most interesting/surprising tidbits in this whole Gil Fri discussion today. Is that because Miami doesn't think he is all that great or do they think he is a lost cause?

They definitely think he's a big time prospect. It would be more along the lines of a Randy Russell situation.

Fans acting like this dude is sean taylor or something........one of his own coaches said he too slow for CB.....and where will he play safety when hall and jobe are superior prospects to him? If he comes he comes cool but I wouldnt lose sleep over this, the gems are hall tyson and jobe

Truth hurts but you ain't lying tbh.... blades is blossoming too as a player. Plus Ivey is underrated as a corner too

I'll say this. Gilbert Frierson might be on the verge of decommitting.

Where are all the tough guys who **** on the few of us who questioned why Gil was always at UGA and other schools if he was so solid to UM? Where you at, broke? Corporal? Pay attention to actions, dumb asses. Actions.

Remember when I stripped Gil of his Ambassador status that you guys gave him because of his actions? These dudes ain't fooling the Legend.

Sucks we prolly gonna lose Gilbert, but you've got to be a colossal moron not to realize and see everything that is happening in Miami right now. But go ahead and jump on the sinking ship that is Georgia, that won't be relevant anytime while Kirby Smart is there

Right here, you right

I'd love to have Garner I've been saying that since Richt was hired. I thought he would be a future 5 star his sophomore year when his name first started coming up. High ceiling that can play CB or S. Hate we're missing Frierson, can't downplay that. But I really like Garner just as much

It is what it is. This board needs to stop bit*hing at each other and have more productive posts. Quit all the targeting because people have different views and this board will be a lot funner.

If you can tell me what a "productive" post is, I'll jump on board

Canes Tears
So in these next few months what happened.....

Miami’s class ranks No. 1 in the country.

“It’s awesome,” cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph said. “We’ve got some really good kids, some national kids that they’re starting to believe in the University of Miami and once that starts it’s a downhill affect where down the line it’s going to be hard for kids to come because we’re going to have so many really good kids in front of them.

“Coach (Mark) Richt talks about it all the time as far as just being a good recruiter and staying tenacious about staying on top of the kids and this staff has done a great job and has taught me a lot as far as doing those things well too.”

Rumph is in his second year at Miami after a three-year stint as head coach of American Heritage School winning two state titles and producing a number of Division I players.

As a recent high school coach, he has a perspective on the impact of a school gaining momentum in the recruiting world.

“These kids all know each other with all of the 7-on-7s going on so when half the kids on your 7-on-7 team are committed to UM and talking about the University of Miami, it’s easy for it to appeal to them,” Rumph said. “We have that advantage with South Florida because they come to practice and they come to our scrimmages to see what we’re doing. The proof is in the pudding.

“All we’ve got to continue as a team is putting good products out there and just staying on top of the kids with what they’re doing, keeping in touch with them, and when the season rolls around and we’re a playoff team and we’re excellent or what we should be doing as a team there’s going to be a lot of kids trying to get into the University of Miami.”

It looks like its going to have to take the OOS and non SoFla kids to bring the U back.
Legacies, long life fans, family connections etc. don't add up to issh. Kids figured out the formula; use a Miami offer to gain national exposure leading to an SEC offer then leading to massive bag drops. SoFla kids have been flipping since peewee. Might be serious dogs on the field but have the loyalty of a snitch.

What I'm really curious about Pete is if you know what's really going on with gil & Georgia than why don't you just tell these people about jobe & bama unless you're not aware of it... I've been telling y'all for months we holding on by real thin strings to this class. All that being said no matter what these made schools are doing we WILL be in it until signing day

FWIW: Not disclaiming Pete at all, but Jobe removed "University of Miami Commit" from his bio and also his "Solidifying my Commitment" tweet has been deleted as well. May mean nothing and I'm not insinuating anything, just a small tidbit I noticed.

This is very ominous coming from one of the best insiders on the board. Definitely cause for concern, but I guess we will wait on Pete's response.

It's the same thing with Jobe. Franchise is dead on here. Actions. We might keep Jobe, we might not. Pete tells us what he's hearing which is all we can ask for but at the end of the day, we have no idea what's going on behind closed doors. It got to the point where it almost seemed like Gilbert was committed to UGA because he was posting a photo every single day on Twitter about them. Hopefully he stays but if he doesn't we'll be fine.
