"Gilbert can make his own decisions. I'm going to Miami" - Jobe
Pete, do you know what happened specifically that made such a change for Gilbert?

He went from reppin hard recruiting others guys to the class, to all but signed & sealed to UGA, it doesn't sound like the staff cooed so what's really going on?

Also, are they just going to let him go, or will they keep trying to til Dec-Feb?

I really don't know honestly. All I know is that 2 days ago I got a call from somebody who said for the first time Miami was legitimately concerned about losing him. Then this afternoon I got word from Frierson's side that something was brewing and a decommit was likely.

The early sense I get is that Miami won't be going 'balls to the wall' to get him back. It's too early to say for sure whether or not they plan on continuing to recruit him, but again I get the feeling he might fall off of Miami's radar for a bit at least.

I think Coley told him he could come in and start at the new halfback passer position.

I understand some will take this with a grain of salt and be skeptical. That's fine. Just passing along what he said.

Did he say that directly to you? Did you get a sense of how sincere he sounded?

He was on FaceTime with somebody that I was with. It sounded sincere and he also brought up the fact that his mom really wants him at Miami as well.

But who knows.

It's always been strange to me why people have complained so much about Jobe, when Frierson is the one who has taken a dozen visits to UGA/UF this year.

I'll wait until after our season to see how things shake out.

Because they always assumed the cousin of Miami great Gore would stick

The part I put in bold is one of the most interesting/surprising tidbits in this whole Gil Fri discussion today. Is that because Miami doesn't think he is all that great or do they think he is a lost cause?

OAN, I'd swap Campbell for Frierson anyday but would love to have both.

They definitely think he's a big time prospect. It would be more along the lines of a Randy Russell situation.

In other words, it would be much easier to replace him with somebody who is almost as good than to try to get him back?

Given his behavior, he's lost the benefit of the doubt. I still appreciate you getting that quote from him, though. Every bit of information is a data point and your's mean more than most.
