Quick Morgan Mahalak Update

interested to see what it means for Mahalak now that Edouard committed. We just offered cornwell, who i'm assuming the staff is shooting for Edouard/cornwell combo for dual threat and pro style qb tandem (although they might be assuming that cornwell is a long shot). One has to think with all the offers dropping this week, that Golden and his staff have been doing some serious work the last few months in order to get the ball rolling for 2014, and that if you want a spot and want to be a miami hurricane, you better commit now before someone else does

This kid is Take no matter what and figure it out later, his mechanics are head and shoulders above AE.

Go Canes!

LOL @ the dog in the flat. Hit your checkdown son.

With all the QBs we're talking to, is it possible we are bringing in two next year?

I really really think we should. Might be tough to find two top flight QB's after bringing in Olsen. Most QB's want to commit early and might not be looking at us because the NCAA and the on field performance may be too late for them.

We really need to upgrade the roster at the QB spot. Our depth chart is unacceptable IMO.

Olsen may be a good QB here, but I don't see why he should freak anyone out.

I dont understand his point at all. Our QB depth chart is bad but we have a good QB returning and a prospect so good in his opinion he may scare other players off. Which one is it?

I would like to see this kid play in pads before I call him a "take no matter what."

Lot's of kids throw a nice ball in shorts and no one diving/falling around his feet. What happens when the lights go on and the dogs are chasing you?

At that point it's a different ball game. Some kids step up, embrace the contact or the possibility of it, other kids wilt, shy away and develop the yips.

Which one is Morgan? Too many unknowns as of right now.

I will say I like his feet, dropback, set up. I love that he doesn't pat the ball before throwing and he has an above average arm for a high school kid.

Hopefully he turns out to be a stud and a UM signee stud at that.

That's an impressive throwing videos. Hopefully he doesn't lock in on one target and can do the same thing in pads.

Getting two good QB's is pretty tough for anyone these days, but especially after a highly rated QB just signed. Not drumming up Olsen, just saying we haven't exactly been in position to sign QB's at will like some places.

Not saying Olsen is scaring anyone off, not at all. When Morris leaves, what do we have? Still 2 top flight QB's in one cycle is tough to pull off unless you are one of the lucky programs.

I disagree. Our current QB depth chart look like this:

Stephen Morris SR (Preseason All-ACC)
Ryan Williams Rs Jr. (Started as Fr. in Memphis and been in this offensive system for over 2 years)
Preston Dewey Rs Fr. (Under Armour All-American while injured most of his senior year)
Gary Crow Rs Fr.
Kevin Olsen Fr. (Elite 11 QB)

I believe that the top programs QB depth chart is very similar. Therefore, please show me a QB depth chart that is acceptable.

Texas A&M signed two 4 star QB that are looking at sitting behind the Heisman Trophy Winner for a while

Plus Edouard isnt a highly touted QB

Edouard will be.

Of course there will be exceptions. Basically what I am saying is I would love to see us bring in 2 top tier prospects, and I am including Edouard there, but I'm not sure it's realistic for us. We've had some trouble attracting QB's here for whatever reasons and already having Olsen and Edouard will no doubt effect some guys out there, not everyone, but it definitely makes some of these "play right now" guys shy away.

JMO though.

Just spoke to a kid here In Tampa. He talked with both Coley and Carrol two days ago. Said they are going to take two QBs for 2014 class. Want 1 who can enroll early.

I'd be real surprised if he is rated higher than a 3 star. now thats meaningless in how he turns out, but its not like teams can point to our class and say we have a 5-Star can't miss at the head of our class

I cant see Edouard scarring guys away

I'm not going to go in depth and trash guys on our roster. I don't like that, but let's just say you and I have different opinions about the guys on it not named Morris and Olsen.

If we end up with only Edouard as our qb it would be a fail. I like his commitment in that he has physical tools that show potential, but let's not crown this kid as potential top rated qb, look at his numbers, from a qb perspective they stink. 1-1 td to int ratio throwing the ball, less than 50% completion and less than 1000 yards throwing. Granted I know he plays for Hialeah High and he has intangibles, but from a pure QB perspective this kid needs a lot of work. Where is this belief in him being a top flight QB prospect?

Those statistics have been proven to be faulty. There are sites that say that he had 20 TD's, 1900 yards passing, and 9 INT's
