It's the only choice that exists. That's the downside of swinging and missing on the only really good QB in the first window.

For the record, going after Mateer was not only the right thing to do but I find it irresponsible by the program to not make him an astronomical offer he couldn't refuse. I would argue they didn't go after him hard ENOUGH.

Mateer was the blank check guy. Now you have no choice but to wait for the second window to see if someone like Drones has a change of heart.

Bingo.

And if we don’t, we’re 1000% losing to both UF and ND, and probably 4+ more teams on the schedule. So in essence, either we get a portal QB, or Mario’s seat actually becomes warm.

Spring window for a QB is too late lol.

I promise if our WRs go through spring with what we have, they’re all out before they watch Mario gamble in the spring window looking for a guy that lost the job wherever he came from

It is what it is at this point. The selling point/promise from Mario has to be that they're willing to do whatever it takes to secure a talent at the position before the first snap of the 2025 season.

I mean, unless someone unexpected becomes available in the next 2 weeks I don't think you have a choice at this point. Maybe back-channel the **** out of Mateer again and make him the most ridiculous NIL offer ever known to man.
