QB1 Controversy????

#9 first start 20-45 264yds 1td 3ints loss to Virginia in a QB friendly offense...but Emory 24-33 151yds 1td 1int win over Clemson in a dumb down offense
If TVD played that exact same game he would be getting CRUSHED on here.
He is a 3yr starter, you should get crushed for that. Emory won't have those stats as a 3yr starter

No.
He's not ready. The game plan was to play conservative and "grind it out".

You don't ask a true freshman to sling it around the yard in his first start. He doesn't even have a grasp of the whole offense yet.

First fvckin deep ball he threw tonight landed in a DB's hands like it was a punt. 😆
That was on George, but keep the false narrative

He’s definitely the future-He’s poised like Ken Dorsey was when he first started-

Beautiful touch he throws the ball with-

If TVD is healthy he will start-

We definitely have a backup QB now-

Brown probably should hit the portal I don’t see him playing at Miami anymore.
Brown should stay and change positiins. Hes a freak athlete.

This was pretty clearly the gameplan. Keep it simple, play it safe and don't turn the ball over, hopefully keeping it close and giving the team a chance to win.

I find it to be cowardly football that's often tough to watch, but....it's a strategy for winning with your backup QB that frequently does work, especially if your defense is playing well.
Emory threw much more confidently downfield as the game went on.

Kid def showed poise and actually made some reads, went through his progressions and checked down when the deeper options weren’t there. Made some nice touch passes but also some ugly wounded ducks. He’s got a weird sidearm release that helped get the ball batted down a few times. But overall, awesome job by a true freshman showed some balls. Kids gonna slay some puzzy this week. Good for him, he deserves it.

Got nothing to do with a false narrative. Watch the game and look at the pass attempts. It was clear that they weren't comfortable throwing down the field and that they wanted to run the ball and supplement the running game with short passes. The goal was to play efficient mistake free football.

The false narrative was you mentioning his deep ball falling into the dbs hands, when George cut the route off after the ball was in the air

Stop it.
There's a reason we barely attempted to throw down-field.
Yeah, but I think we should have at least tried some vertical routes slightly earlier.

Emory appears in no way "ready" - to me, it was clearest when they actually schemed a nice play for an in-breaking route to Horton, and Williams telegraphed his throw so obviously that he basically got it Mutumbo'd back to himself. But, at some point Clemson was loading the box so badly they were getting multiple free downhill guys into gaps.

I'm not asking for anything more than what we saw on the attempt to Young that was broken up. Emory can at least make that type of throw. Actually, I'm also asking for more speed on the field. Get Ray Ray AND Brashard on the field at the same time. With Horton. ****, put Restrepo in that same personnel group and let him run the option routes inside. One of Emory's best throws was on the 3rd down conversion in between the hashes to Young. He let that one rip.

In terms of different personnel groups, I'm not even talking about for Emory, specifically. I'm talking about for whenever TVD returns. I'm ready to see us in more 4WR and try to run the ball at lighter boxes. Our OL is a clear strength. We want to run the ball. I think it'd be helpful if we help them matchup against something less than 7 and 8 man boxes.

Yep. 4 wide and/or flex out a TE the defense doesn’t laugh at.

We can’t have two RBs and McCormick on the field at the same time. The defense is just laughing at that and flooding the box.

No controversy in my opinion.
Williams did a great job in his first start, against a solid Clemson D at prime time.
But, man his delivery and velocity is so slow, I’m frightened every time he throws more than 10 yards.
I think we need a portal qb badly

TVD should start the rest of the season. But I'm excited about next year and Emory taking over! Jacurri doesn't have a shot. Maybe a position change with the new QB coming in.
