This was a Clemson team that disappears offensively and can be beaten with a conservative game plan. Emory did his job. Lets just leave it at that FOR NOW.

And what about GT? What type of game plan is needed for our QB to NOT throw 3 picks?

But when we play against less talented ACC defensive backfields (every other team on our schedule except FSU), they will play zone.

So my question for this debate is which QB do you think will be better against a zone defense; the veteran who has seen it all but has struggled historically against zone D’s, or the true freshman who has very little playing experience against teams that will drop 7-8.

The answer is - trot him out and let him run.

We're going to need him to perform next year - so in times of adversity - it's funny how those forced into a situation - show us what they have.

Our OC was threading a needle - and may have could turned it up a bit earlier in the game - but when he had to make the necessary passes - he made them.

All the "WHAT IF's" don't mean diddly squat.

I've seen cherries in their first firefight go all "Mad Mike" Hoare on the enemy.

easy? Nothing easy about it. But i said in the TVD injury thread that even if TVD doesn’t play, I wouldn’t give up hope because this Clemson team could be beat playing conservatively. That was my opinion. I am not sure what is wrong with that.

As for GT, I think a similar game plan would have resulted in a more comfortable win. But something tells me we didn’t respect GT at the same level of Clemson in all phases.

But a team like UNC or FSU, they are probably going to score. You probably cant be as conservative and I dont know that Emory is ready for that. Hard to tell. But none of this is important. He did his job, got more comfortable and maybe when he plays again, he gets the chance to show he can handle a less restrictive game plan.

He doesn’t telegraph? He had like 6-7 batted balls and has a windup like Fernando Valenzuela. He was solid last night and that’s it. We aren’t winning many games scoring 17 pts in regulation. You want to be iowa?

Are you seriously that blind???? Did you not see how conservative Dawson played it in the first half?? He was 14-17 in the second half and I’m pretty sure if they would have allowed him to go deep earlier we’d score plenty more. Go check your eyes 👀

You guys act like Emory won us the game last night. We literally didn't run a play in the opponent's territory until the end of the 3rd quarter. 2 and a half quarters and zero plays across the 50. Is Emory the future? Yes. Will he have a better career than TVD? Sure. But he is not better than him today and has no business starting over TVD this year. Point blank TVD gives us the best chance to win the game, not Emory.
