QB Decision Update (NEW YEARS DAY ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE LEAGUE)

That's my thought.

Living here in DC, I can tell you being "only a Fifth Rounder" poisoned the well against Howell. Even over the mid-season three game stretch where he played very well, he never enjoyed the confidence of many. After that when he fell apart, Howell just confirmed all the doubts. Had he been a First or Second Rounder, maybe a diff story.
You can’t judge a young QB under Rom Rivera. If you aren’t good enough to overcome his coaching (very few are right out of college), you’re screwed.

As a Redskins fan, tell me about it. I knew it was a disaster when Ron brought all his old Carolina cronies with him to Washington, signed a ton of his washed up Carolina players, etc. In two weeks, he and his crew are done.

He is a random portal QB
Exactly. He's a random nobody who couldnt even crack 2nd string at Mizzou. Why would you advocate for him. Might as well push for some 2nd stringer from a G5 team...he would have as much value as Garcia.

He is a random guy from group of 5🤣🤣🤣.
All jokes aside Miami 7-5 ACC Missouri #9 10-2 SEC. Plus even with this line TVD statue hurt Emory diet statue hurt. We need numbers. The guy has ties here and is mobile plus Dawson could fix him right?

this ^^^ Shodell spoke about his contact with the father. He said he was very cooperative and a good interview up to the end of last week. He's gone dark now and they are not returning phone calls, etc. Shodell said he has heard that agents are pushing to enter the NFL- the sooner he's in, the sooner he will be up for the 2nd contract. The belief is he would stay in the NFL long enough to get to that point. The trade off would be getting the bigger payment via NIL for one more year of college vs. playing for the long term and many more millions in a couple of years. If he waits it out, the other possibility is there will be more teams looking for a high caliber QB after the bowl games are over. January 15th is the deadline to register for early entrance into the draft process.

Both Shodell and Ferman said it is their impression that Miami was not expecting it to go this long.

They also tossed around the idea that the Wards were waiting to see what the offense looked like with JB - they already know how it went for TVD and perhaps are waiting to see what it looks like with a QB who is more mobile. They don't think that's a serious factor but it could be another of many reasons for the delay.

Pete Nakos, ON3 national transfer portal guy, was on the Andy Staples show recently. This is what he said about WArd's situation:

“I have not been very public about what a timetable could be for Cam Ward because I’ve heard everything from; he was gonna announce last Wednesday to this past Friday to Christmas Day. And now it’s Tuesday the 26th, and people are saying midweek this week, which could be tomorrow. I have no idea about the timetable. I’m not going to set one just because I don’t think there is one.”

In a previous appearance, Nakos revealed that the NFL was very much in play for Ward. There has been a limited amount of discussion surrounding his draft stock, unlike the likes of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jaylen Daniels. But the inconsistent play at quarterback this year in the NFL could make a jump to the next level more lucrative for Ward should he choose to declare for the 2024 Draft.
Nakos is and has been connect to the Ward camp for a long time.

This is all smelling like a “you have to pay me way more to risk my draft year under Mario” narrative (whether we want to believe that is a crap narrative or not, it’s the ******* reality) and IMO, it’s time to move on. I’ve been saying for a long time (without any knowledge of the behind the scenes stuff despite hearing a few things from a few people) that you set a deadline and you stick to it and you move on at some point that already passed.

It seems like Mario has put himself in a corner where he has no choice now, to do nothing but wait it out and hope for the best because when there were options, they decided to wait.

I really hope it works out but if we end up with someone other than Cam Ward, don’t believe the bull**** that will be fed.

I'm sitting here in the office, just got out of a meeting with "important people" who run things but have no idea what I do.
I had to re-explain a process twice. The first time I figured I'd dumb it down so a layperson can understand it. Apparently my opinion of the average layperson is too high. So the second time, I thought of this thread and explained it like I would to some of our more challenged posters.

CIS has prepared me for life in the real world.

Didnt he end up 3rd string at Missou? What benefit would he offer over any other random portal addition?
I'd look at a small school QB that actually started, over a third stringer that is only a third stringer because he was a 4 star recruit. People seem to forget, we don't need a super star QB to win big. Our best teams ever had average QBs, in the skills department. I just want leadership skills, and the ability to read a D and deliver the ball. We have weapons. We have an OL. We just need a decent QB that isn't a head case.
