Pro Football Hall of Fame finalists

Nothing against the guy, but Sterling Sharpe getting in is a joke.
Extremely weak class. Gates is the only one deserving of the nomination. Eric Allen and Jared Allen were very good and put up some numbers, but not quite HOF in my opinion. With Sterling Sharpe getting in, Sean Taylor should be a lock based on their criteria.

HOF talent but no longevity, Terrell Davis effect

There’s about a dozen WRs that should get in if they’re gonna put him in. Sharpe has less career receiving yards than Plaxico Burress. He’s not even in the top 100 with that stat. And, he has less career receptions and TDs then Jordy Nelson.

Listen, u’re a helluva poster, but this is beyond a casual take.

Sterling Sharpe was apart of the Big 3 at the WR position: He, Jerry, & Chris Carter, w/ Jerry & Sterling battling for “who’s #1?”

Sterling was an absolute monster, & no one ever considered Shotgun Burress one of the top 3 WRs during his prime. I don’t know when, but during this LBJ sports era, we’ve lost this ability to look beyond #’s, & look at the full picture w/ context.

Sterling, unfortunately, had his career cut short, not by a lack of production, but a hit that ended his career. However, let’s see what he did during his time:

7 yrs-
3x 1st team All Pro (43% of his career)
5x Pro Bowl (71% of his career)
3x NFL receptions leader (43% of his career)
2x NFL TD leader (29% of his career)

****, if his career didn’t end a yr early, he would have a SB ring, too.

Plaxico wish he had these accolades, played 6 yrs longer & accomplished way less (except the miracle SB v. Pats)

If imma keep it a buck, the only reason it took so long for Sterling to get in was b/c of politics. Sterling wasn’t well liked among voters b/c he didn’t kiss ***. He didn’t Lambeau leap, he was very reserved; but guys like him, Sayers, Davis got in despite not having the longevity b/c they have the accolades in such a short period of time & absolutely dominated in that brief window.

If ST26 played 6 yrs, & made 4+ pro bowls, all pro, DPOY etc. he would be in; but, he only played 4 w/ 2 pro bowls, so unfortunately, that’s going to keep him out. He’s always going to be the biggest “what if’s.”

I’m fine with these type of selections. Stats don’t get him in but you can read between the lines & figure they would’ve been there. Ok, Huge assumption but cool.

Why discredit a Reggie Wayne though? He actually put in the work, built the stats, stood near the top for twice the time.. I think the Hall should be filled with those who shined brightest & fizzled early AND those who stayed near the top for longer than our pets remained alive.

Surprised Jarred and Eric got in over Eli.... I mean 2 Superbowl MVP's along with the longevity gotta stand for something doesn't it? By no means am I saying he's "The greatest QB ever" but he's done plenty to get in over the two ....

Total insanity that Reggie Wayne still isn't in.

We must continue to actively lobby for Reggie, Big Vince, Frank, G-Reg, Graham, Calais Campbell, and Lou Hedley.
If I'm right Calais and Frank haven't been out for 5 years yet, have they??? Frank I believe will be first ballot..... #3 all-time rushing is too hard to over look...( Yes I know it took him 40 years to get there but he got it.. 🤣 🤣 )

The hall of fame should be only those who dominated the sport. Longevity is not an accolade.
