I’d be surprised if that’s the case

I still think Guidry would be fine with better personnel. Stuff on film that scares me from a scheme and alignment standpoint but i think it’s more personnel related due to stupidity than anything
What's strange is that Guidry looked good the previous year. WTF happened in a year's time? I know we didn't have much talent in the secondary, but I don't think that explains all of the drop-off.

Miami landed one of the fastest rising defensive linemen in the nation with the commitment of Louisiana Tech DT David Blay.

A four-star Portal prospect, Blay made First-Team All-Conference USA this season with 46 tackles, 10.5 TFLs, and 6.5 sacks. He was particularly dominant against Arkansas, with 5 tackles, 2 TFLs and a sack. One source said he was “the best player on the field” against the SEC opponent.

The 6’4, 303-pound Blay is a native of the Philadelphia suburbs. He originally signed with D2 West Chester as a 6’2, 280-pound unrated prospect. Blay blossomed after a redshirt year, with 39 tackles, 13 TFLs and five sacks. He then transferred to Louisiana Tech, where he made 16 tackles as a redshirt sophomore before his breakout junior campaign.

Blay earned a 76.9 run defense grade from PFF, and a 64.7 pass rush grade. The Canes targeted a premium DT to pair with homegrown talent in Ahmad Moten, Justin Scott, and Josh Horton.

Blay chose Miami over Penn State, Oklahoma, USC and Illinois.
