Predictions for surprise camp upsets?

Not a whole lot. I think Kamalu will take chick's snaps through the year and I think Wyche will be a backup if that is an upset. They'll play so many guys that a camp "upset" won't mean much.

Not that i think Chick is some superstar, but nobody is stealing his snaps unless he just physically cant play. I understand the DL has much more talent than we have seen in some time, but Chick is one of Golden's leaders.

Unless the defense just becomes some cold blooded killer. Plenty of dudes will get snaps again this season.

Kamalu was already starting to rotate with him by year's end. This is just an extension of that. Of course they'll both play but Kamalu is a true 285-290 lb athlete born to play that position. Chick is a positionless guy who lacks explosion and does nothing to jump out at you. He really should be about 270 but is trying to blow himself up to fit what the coaches need.

I think Dobard takes Sandlands spot at 2nd String TE behind Walford of course

Can't wait to see what kind of player Moten is, but I'd guess Jenkins is ahead right now. Surprise I'll give you is Hester gets minutes at Safety. Also think Gus locks down the backup RB spot and Grace plays over Armbrister.

LULZ at dudes predicting Moten will walk in and start. If that happens, we are in a WORLD of hurt.

They don't play the same position.

Depends what D we are in. I'd guess Moten has a better chance to see the field in our 4/3 set than when we are in the 3/4.Do not think he sees the field at DE this year but if everyone is healthy and he does I'd love it. Big fan of his.

My bold prediction is that Darrion Owens starts at Sam. Doubt it happens, though.

No shot unless there are a ton of injuries.

I wouldn't say he has no shot. I have my doubts too, but what's to say that a true freshman can't start at Sam? It's not as mentally challenging as Mike or Will. Not even close.

If Figs was healthy last year he might have started almost every game as a true freshman. Was Figs an EE? My memory says no, but I might be wrong. From all accounts, Owens impressed this spring. I'm concerned that Owens' body is not as developed as Figs' was at the same stage.

Owens was my favorite defensive signee. Maybe I'm biased. Lol.

Deon Bush will have a bigger role also Miami should make Bush player closer to the line of scrimmage.

I find it hard to believe that 18 year olds can come in and learn an immensely complicated scheme over 6 months and unseat 22 year olds that have started for 2 years. I'd think that if that was the case Carter would have gotten at least some playing time before the Louisville game.

He will next season, this year might be asking a lot considering he is listed at 217. In either the 4-3 or 3-4 that's way to small for a Sam backer considering he will be taking on a lot of blocks there. So unless the roster listing is off by 25 pounds, it just doesn't work.

Owens is an animal though and should be a 3 year starter at Sam starting in 15.

/BTW if anyone still thinks Chad Thomas is going to be anything other than a 3-4 End during most of his career here I'm not sure what to tell you. Yes, he is best as a 4-3 a End but so long as we are a 3-4 team, he is growing way too big to be a 3-4 OLB. He's already pushing 260.....which by point of comparison is already 10 pounds MORE than Chick was when he first got here and we know what happened there....

90% of the touted incoming class, not including junior college or graduate transfers, red shirts.

I believe that's a good thing.

My only other prediction is that if a game managing qb, who can complete 13 out of 18-20 passes a game emerges, then we will be in one of the National Semifinal Games as an undefeated ACC Champion.
