Pre-Summer 2017 Class Prediction

Pending new offers and targets (I'm sure things will change after the Camps in June) this is what I predict our class to look like. IMO.

QB: Cade Weldon - N'Kosi Perry

RB: Robert Burns - Bentavious Thompson

WR: Jerry Jeudy - Rodney Scott - Kevaughn Dingle - Evidence Njoku

TE: Brian Polendey - Shimoore Stern

OL: Navaughn Donaldson - Kadeem Telfort - Zach Dykstra - Tedarrell Slaton

DE: Jordan Wright - Owen Carney - Jonathan Garvin

DT: Jonathan Ford - Bryan Jones - Kane Taylor

LB: Waynmon Steed - De'Andre Wilder - Ventrell Miller

CB: Latavious Brini - Shawn Davis - Christopher Henderson - Marco Wilson or Nick Roberts

S: Billy Gibson Jr. - Daniel Wright

ATH: Darrian Felix - Deejay Dallas

Other possibilities: CJ Cotman (RB), Matt Landers (WR), Kai-Leon Herbert (OL), Jarez Parks (DE), Deandre Johnson (DE), Rashad Colson (DT), Randall Haynie (CB), Brian Edwards (CB), Amari Carter (S), Juwan Burgess (S), Derrick Smith (S)

Could have swore I read somewhere that the staff isn't recruiting Slaton, or making him a priority. We have a better chance with Calvin Ashley than we do with Slaton. We are looking at OT's exclusively I believe, and despite Slaton's talents, most people projects his biggest upside as an OG in college
No we don't, we have a better chance at Alex Leatherwood than Calvin Ashley. They're looking for 1 center and 1 OG and they want Robert Hainsey to be that one OG badly. Kid's responding too, said we're one of the favorites in February to rivals

We wont get even remotely close to 32.

I agree..I would put our chances on each of them as Leatherwood > Ashley > Slaton among the 3. Still, last I heard when it comes to Slaton was that we weren't recruiting him seriously, and that most of our attention at that school went to Kai-Leon Herbert (along with Marco Wilson ofcourse)

that class is a pipe dream. I bet most of the recruits that will fill out the remainder of our class haven't even been offered yet.

Every year there's talk about us signing 30+ and we never come close to it.We'll be much closer to 22 than 32 again.

Why no Gibson? Has the staff cooled, has Gibson indicated he's not that solid or is this a prediction from one of our all knowing fans?

Go Canes!

right now we only have room for 17 commits.

we would need 13 players to transfer or go pro early, in order to have room for 30 recruits.

This is wrong.

We have 19 open scholarships right now for 2017 (20 if you assume AQM is gone). Obviously we will have several players transfer and probably a few leave early.

27-29 is realistic, unless Richt wants to hold over a few for 2018

next year's the big class...there's probably about 16-18 recruits from SFL that rank In the top 250 in the nation so this class probably is only going to be around 23-24

lol no. It's usually the other way around. People wring their hands over finding enough roster spots for classes. I remember one year people were saying we only had room for 13-14 schollies, and we ended up with 19 signing on LOI day.

There is PLENTY of room for attrition if we choose to do so.

But don't we hear this EVERY YEAR? That "next year" is the big class? Go back to other recruiting threads in years past, it's the same narrative. We have quality depth issues...the only way that changes is we build up the roster now, not 2018, and not 2019....now! We have to start the "reload" process with this class, and get out of the "rebuilding" phase. We've been in the rebuilding phase since 2009. We got a nice quality 2016 class with w/ some true building blocks...now it's time to go to the next level. Richt understands this.

Since Richt took the commitment of N'kosi Perry & they are recruiting McFarland & darrian Felix (All purpose backs) I wonder if he's moving a a more spread offense instead of heavy pro style. High tempo Pratices also.

I don't think you're understanding what I'm saying. 2018 is the big class because of how many people are probably leaving for the NFL or graduating. It's very safe to say after the 2018 season David Njoku is leaving to the NFL, Gerald Willis will probably leave, Chad Thomas would have Graduted(he needs his full eligibility), Yearby graduates, Moten graduates, Trevor graduates, Kc graduates, Nick Linder, graduates, Standish Dobard graduates, Herndon probably leaves for the league...there's probably 18 player's leaving. 2018 is going to be the big class

He's trying to build an offense similar to what he had at FSU

Doesn't seem like it by the way we played the spring game. Do you have any quotes or anything from Richt saying he wants to emulate the FSU fast break?

you're right it didn't and he hasn't said that BUT if you look at the body types and play styles specifically at QB and the RB position in recruiting this year and going into 2018 The Franchise it supports the idea of a fast paced offense. I don't think it will emulate it but I think 3-4 years down the line when he has "his" players we will probably see some concepts from that offense.

First off, at least you had the stones to put up a list and then deal with what comes afterward.

Secondly, if that's our running back class, I'll be sorely disappointed.

Third, that wide receiver class doesn't excite me at all. Richt has said we need speed at the position and that doesn't cut it. Jeudy isn't a burner, but would be the fastest of the bunch. Evidence, lacking speed. Dingle has a college ready frame, but lacks speed as well. Scott, he's a turtle.
