Pre Season W/L Prediction for Canes 2014 Season

Only team we have a realistically chance of losing to is FSU. But give me the Canes at home in that game which will be the game that puts us at #1 BCS rankings.
And with a little luck someone in the Atlantic kncoks them out of the ACC champ game. Facing them twice would be tough.

Anyone who thinks GT is going to beat us is full on delusional. There are plenty of games I'm worried about on our schedule and that absolutely isn't one of them.

UL, NE, VT, FSU-- obviously these are the "given" teams to worry about. 3 of those teams have owned us. IMO, NE has me less concerned especially with there losses on defense, but it's away and at a hostile place.

GT, DUKE, UNC -- IMO are being overlooked. Even though we have owned GT the last few years it is still a shaky game. Also ppl forget we always lose the game following GT.

Duke- they beat us last year and still have basically the same team.

UNC- gonna be trouble especially with MW at quarterback. If Logan Thomas can gash us... So can he.

Honestly I'm very optimistic about our chances this year. Talent has been upgraded very nicely and we have a good core of players.

too many people on this site giving us more credit than we deserve. We need to beat a decent team. WR and RB do not win games, coaching,O-Line and defense won games. I need to see much improvement in these 3 areas before i see any progress in us. And I donut care what people say about practice. Nee to see it in games before I buy the hype.

I say we're going to be 10-2. Based on pure talent, we should win 11 but I know that we're bound to blow at least one game. I still think we're too far behind FSU to beat them, but you never know. At this point last year it didn't seem like we had much of a chance against UF, but we all know how that ended up.

Maybe I'm too optimistic but you guys calling Cincy, Duke, UNC, and GT difficult games?
The skepticism is on our end. If we're a good team this year, then there are only like three tough games.
This. Last year we thought WF would be easy. Didn't turn out that way. Gave up 500 yards to UVA and Pitt and finished the season getting embarrassed. I'm very skeptical.

The optimist in me says that we lose a close game to Louisville, beat Nebraska, and play well the rest of the year, losing only at VT and against FSU. Sadly, this probably means we do not win the coastal and we play in the Chick Fil A bowl or Sun Bowl at 9-3.

The pessimist in me says that Louisville took us to pound me in the *** prison in the bowl game, and return a lot of defensive talent, and upgraded their offensive coaching in a big way. On the road, Petrino v Coach D, Jake Heaps or a true freshman at QB, etc. I just don't see us getting win there. They were a lot better than us last year all over the field. Then we travel to Nebraska. AG has never won a big road game like this and their running attack scares me. There's 2 losses. We always drop a game we shouldn't so maybe we lose to UNC or UVA. Add the inevitable FSU and VT loss and that gives us 7-5.

I think the latter is a lot more realistic than the former. If we start Jake Heaps I think our ceiling is 8 wins, and that is only if our defense makes huge improvements.

Put me down for 7-5.

Canes ain't losing to Nebraska, just way to much speed for them to handle. This canes team is the fastest team in a while. Way to many weapons to lose to Nebraska. The team will be pumped for prime time in that stadium, not scared of it.

12-2

I look at the schedule and see one team thats better on paper. When it comes to football, Im an optimist and I'd rather think the best and possibly be disappointed, as opposed to thinking the worst and being pleasantly surprised.

Opponent(UM's % chance of winning)

Games we win: FAMU(100%)/AKST(90%)/DUKE(75%)/GT(80%)/CINCY(85%)/UVA(90%)/PITT(85%)

Games we lose: FSU(25%)

Toss up games: UL(55%)/NEB(45%)/VT(60%)/UNC(65%)

Assuming we go 3-1 in the "toss up" games, that would leave us with a 10-2 record.

That's my best guess.

I don't make predictions. Some thought we would lose to Florida, and beat Duke. Last season has very little to do with this season. See beating Duke and VT in 2012, and losing to them in 2013.
