Saturday Practice Observations:
  • Chris Ewald worked with the safety group today.
  • Fletcher and Lyle both got first team reps, but Lyle had the better day. He’s incredibly explosive
  • Young WR core flashed today, Josh Moore had the best day out of the group. Moore had a great catch by a bad throw from Judd. Rayray had a nice back of the endzone catch.
  • Punt returns looking like 1. Rayray 2. Toney 3. Upshaw
  • DB’s are lockdown. Many times the dline got to the QB and forced the QB to get a quick ball out resulting in an interception. Notable guys that had a good day: Dylan Day, Xavier Lucas, Ethan O’Connor
  • Elija Lofton is probably the best player on the team. They lined him up everywhere and he always got yards wherever he was.
  • Hayden Lowe had a tipped pick.
  • Zech Poyser is probably the most underrated DB and IMO the best in the room. His coverage skills are insane.
  • Markeith Williams is making that next stride. Had a good day.

I think Poyser is legit, we ain’t seen a big safety that can move like him in a long time. Pause

And Lucas is most likely a top corner in the country. I hope Moore pans out man we need a big wr that can run and beat tf out of corners that try and put hands on you. I just hope he can smack tf out of a db.

I’m not trying to **** on former players, but I know what I type next will sound like it. Let me preface it by saying he was a great teammate, hard worker, and intelligent young man.

When Corey Flagg was being talked up and having a significant role on those 2022 and 2023 squads, you know we were hurting bad at that position and to expect issues back there.

Facts when you know a player is lacking and never will be athletic enough EVER…..and they are being talked up it’s a wrap for that position group. You will fool the super fan or the optimistic fan, but you won’t fool a logical human being that seen the tape.

I think you only go to the Portal for WR help if there is a real difference maker available. I don’t want to take away reps from the talented young group unless we get a true dog at WR. Can’t wait to see what these young cats can do when an experienced QB is throwing them the ball.

And then in 2024 people were actually saying they wished we had him back

That’s how bad we were at LB
