Spring PractiSe 6: Saturday, March 22nd

Again, this is what I mean when I say most of CIS only watches UM lol. They bring back the top 2 DL in the entire conference.

Not too interested personally in comparing our talent to other teams at the moment

Losing our Top SIX receiving yards leaders, the best RB we’ve had in years, and the best QB I’ve seen here in my lifetime has me a little hesitant to make predictions

Also I realize this won’t be popular but Elijah Lofton a guy that doesn’t have a specific position being our “best player” isn’t exactly what I hoped to hear

(This is just as of right now of course I’m optimistic)

Glad someone else said it…

Their DL is better. I’m sure many will refer to Bain’s 2023 season and Mesidor’s 2022 season as their reasoning to disagree though, lol.

I think the odds are better than even that they do perform that well. Along with Bryant and the young guys, I expect DE to be playoff level. On the other hand, while I'm a fan of several individual DTs, I'm not a fan of our DT group overall.

I like how every other teams top recruits are all great players that can be counted on regardless how proven or inexperienced they are, but that same standard can't be applied to us lol.

TJ Parker was great and likely will be even better for them this year. But the rest of their Edges didn't do much of anything, which is why Clemson committed the cardinal sin of taking some portal players lol. One of those transfers was from Purdue - Heldt, we'll see how much he performs. But it's not like he's someone more proven than Mesidor or anything. Got a great Build though and I'd expect him to take that next step, but I'd expect it out of some of our players too... Like they have other highly rated guys including a bama former 5star transfer I believe. But have they done anything more than our Edges, really? No.

At DT they definitely have talent. Peter woods, got another 5 star recruit this year. But their 2nd starting DT the best thing you can say is the guy is experienced. Why is Blay not on those guys' level? Moten is likely as good or better than Capehart. And we have some 5stars of our own on the DLine.

Like is this all about Woods+Parker? Cause that's what it sounds like to me . If Bain were on Clemson or Ohio St, everyone on CIS would be calling him the best returning junior in the country

Figured you’d show up shortly with that same argument. My argument is centered around the 2 best DL in the conference by a mile in Parker and Woods. I didn’t say anything about other recruits even though Clemson has proven to actually develop their DL guys consistently, but I’m SURE you don’t want to go down that road.

Would you take their DL over ours? Yes or no?

Wow 163lbs?
sounds about right.

He was around that 170-175 for his hs sr year. They tend to lose weight during the szn with all the action so i could see him being an early enrollee coming in close to that amount last spring. I think his natural weight should be around 180-185 for his career here.

Have we really come a long way from Brad Jennings being a starter? I want to believe that, but my eyes tell me no.

I did feel that way during the 2023 season when our lb’s played ok. None of them were awesome, but Kiko, Bissainthe, and KJ Cloyd were decent. Thought we were going to turn the corner in 2024, but we regressed badly at that position.

In fairness to Jennings (and Flagg) our DC’s Diaz/Baker had them crashing into lineman and running to the sidelines with them. Guidry had too many exotic packages and had our DL constantly stunting which put too much pressure on our lb’s. I’m really hoping Heatherman can turn this unit around with his more “simplified” approach.
In terms of body type, yes, I say we've come a long way.
In terms of performance, maybe we've progressed a little less. But if Brad Jennings were on this team, with all due respect, he'd be maybe running down kickoffs.

lol, best two lineman in the conference, right. Peter Woods has to be the most overrated DT in the country with the way youre talking about him. Like I said, if Bain were on Clemson you would be saying he was the best in the conference.

I’m taking our DLine.

But it is true if you (for the position you play) are big and have that athletic ability power and speed for that position its a difference. Its an exaggerated comparison so I can make my point easily to understand what I mean. Jeremiah benefits from being the size he is and moving like a little guy, same like Saquon dude running a 4.3 at 230 with that explosiveness. You had people saying Walton was better before the draft and that was drugs they were on, he's 230 bruh you cant bring that down easily with that explosiveness and speed you just cant. Walton was like 200 that's a huge difference, in every sport that makes a big difference when athletic ability are leveled between players.

Smith, Flowers, Addison, & Worthy were all first round draft picks; none are taller than 6' and all play in the NFL at less than 172lbs.

Meanwhile, Jojo is 6'1" 180lbs as a 19 y.o. college sophomore.

The facts simply don't support your assertion, and you only obfuscate the point with exaggerated comparisons; saying size provides an advantage in contact sports is like saying water is wet, but that's not exactly what we're talking about.

Bruh you stay complaining about lack of talent and blah blah blah! No team has that many big fast and strong guys at every position like you are wanting! They just don’t! You don’t need that to be a good team. This year’s champs, Ohio state had a few guys like that, but not everywhere. All your takes just be wild!!! It’s year after year after year too! 😂

I like how you act like it’s insane to think Bain is on their level. What they end up with on draft day ain’t what I’m talking about.

And like I said, that statement is entirely about 2 of their players. lol. I’d take our whole DLine over theirs.

It’s actually sad to see Ray Ray still PR #1. Miami is allergic at putting actual good special team players at return.
Why Mario hasn’t brought in a proven special teams coach to help him coach up our special teams by now is mind boggling and inexcusable. Our return units were a joke last season and Mario cannot be taken seriously if he thinks it’s not a problem that needs to be addressed immediately.

trader and Scott is your all acc DT and wr

252, we've been counting on youth for 23 years. And even if they are All Conference, I want another proven guy at each spot. What happens if they get injured? Champions have depth of talent.
