Potential Starting UF O Tackle out for the season

IMO a big part of the disconnect (besides homerism and hope on both sides obviously) between Florida fans' perspectives on their personnel and success of different units from that of Miami fans is that most Miami fans are only looking at where they see these guys/units being for week 2. Miami fans don't car beyond that. While it seems most of the Florida fans are talking about their outlook on individuals/units for the entirety of the season.

For instance, I think Florida's OL will end up being **** solid. Moore at RT, Halapio at guard, Humphries continuing to get better with experience. BUT, Halapio is not playing week 2, Moore is playing at a different position early on and will be starting the sixth game of his career and 2nd as a gator (in a new system). For week 2, I see a mixed unit on the OL that will take more time to gel. I see their raw talent being maximized in production at a later point in the season, but not for week 2.

Similar situation with Matt Jones coming back from illness (and lack of practice, reps, etc.) and a lot of new defensive starters (despite mostly all having many snaps under their belt). I similarly expect David Gilbert (and other new guys on D) to have much more of a potential impact for the Canes in the latter half of the season.

very fair post. i agree with most of it.

I do too. That was good. This is a big game for UiF no doubt but I highly doubt their/your fans are punching eachother in the imaginary shoulder pads talking about a program altering victory, especially since its OOC.

I'm sure you want to shut us up but no way UiF fans have as much invested in this one game as Canes fans.

I've also said numerous times it helps us playing you early and I stand by that.

overall i'd agree as far as thinking its a program altering game on uf's side. but the old timers want this badly seeing as how its the final scheduled game in the series as of now. i've seen uf-miami matchup about 6 times in my life time so from the rivalry angle i don't have that same type of feeling as the old timers.

as far as the early slot being an advantage...it could be. very early in the season teams are still working themselves into shape so it usually comes down to special teams, defense, and sometimes whichever offense can make that one play on the move to get over the hump since offenses aren't usually synced up so early. objectively speaking i'd go uf for defense, special teams even, and offense to miami. that's why this game to me is so tough to predict, no outcome would surprise me. i think this ends up the best game early in the season, possibly only uga-clemson ends up being better.

There's no doubt blood in the water for UiF fans. I think the NCAA **** is what fuels the Miami side even a bit more. The us against the world mentality is in full force. I honestly don't remember an early season vibe like this in the programs history.

I agree though, no scenario would really shock me. I don't know what to expect from my own team let alone a Gator team that I don't know much about yet with so many new faces.

Its going to be a big moment on both sides of the ball. I just want to see us start fast. We need some of that momentum early on.
