Postseason South Florida Top 50 (1-10)

Cook speed is unreal often. Gotta keep his feet up though.

Now Ermon Lane is special too and I really like KC looks like another road grader.

Yup if Al can do this right he can name his price seriously.

Cook surprised me this year.. he is twice the RB Sony is.. but.. i still think Ermon is the best Overall in Miami

Cook has a burst that is freakish. Wow.

seriously. I dont think I've seen that from a highschooler before...I would remember that ****. He is unreal fast/quick. If this were NCAA, dude would be 99 acceleration, 96 speed. Oh and he breaks tackles!!

**** it, I'm in. He's the best RB in 2014, and I've been a Sony fan for the last 4 years.

Dear DeAndre Burnett,
Get Your Brother to The U.
Score,
CanesNation.

He is definitely freakish no doubt, but I have seen it before...in orange and green with a "U" on his helmet this past season. Duke Johnson has every bit of that burst. Both these kids have elite athleticism.

Seems unfair what Cook does to defenses. Kids are taking a good angle on him, and he turns it into a bad angle. That's one **** explosive athlete. ****, he's just as explosive on the defensive side of the ball.

I would say their burst is comparable but I dont think its a stretch to say Cook has better long speed if that makes any sense.

Also just looked at the highlight video, and thats the same one released earlier. It only has half the season included (about 5 games) its missing the late season games and playoffs when Cook turnt up. Hopefully we get a full season highlight

I hate this kind of post, but looking at the OP this is what popped into my head:

I wont argue that. I was speaking specificly to their short area burst. Cook has elite speed. However, I never saw Duke caught from behind in high school either, and I watched him eat up angles consistently as well. From what I've read, you have seen both in perosn though...so I'll take your word for it.

Cooks film is as good as any I've ever watched, impressive

For discussion sake, see, I totally disagree with you guys on this one. His film shows an out-of-this-world athlete with next-next level acceleration, speed and burst. It shows less of a pure RB. It shows a guy who'd do fantastically well in some of our zone concepts and from the spread/gun formations. I've seen him a number of times live. The reason I don't put him on Duke Johnson or Alex Collins' level YET (he has more than enough time and will likely surpass Collins) is that I haven't seen the subtle things that are needed for the *same* impact to translate to the next level:

(1) Patience: setting up blocks
(2) Consistent inside running
(3) Using his hands/length to create distance
(4) Minor, but changing the ball easily depending on the sideline is a sign of instinct

Over 50% of the runs on Cook's highlights and many of the ones I've seen in person look like Devin Hester kickoff returns. He's shot out of a ******* cannon, has the vision necessary to see a crease, and explodes through for an enormous run.

Lu, What do you think of the CJ Spiller comparison? I think its right on point. Crazy athletes who are awesome football players but not necessariliy pure RB's.

I agree with a lot of this. One of the things that makes Duke so special is the creativity and intelligence with which he naturally runs. His angles and decisions as a RB are masterful.

Cook actually kind of reminds me of Devin Hester, except he is a little more defined position wise. Of all RBs, he is more like CJ Spiller than anyone else.

When healthy CJ Spiller is tearing up the NFL, if thats "all" Cook can be, I think he will do just fine. Lu why would he do anything different when what he does works for 11+ yards per carry against talented teams. I'd like to add he finishes runs unlike most "speed" backs, so he has the power.

/ you know i love Sony, as you have pointed out, but in tis film Cook seems to get to top speed faster than Sony this yearr, maybe as fast as i've seen, kids a blur.

I know I'll get **** for this but after watching the highlights I think that both collins and Sony are better RB's. I think Cook is probably the best athlete in Florida, but honestly, I'd probably put 4 or 5 RB ahead of him in florida.

I think I remember him getting caught from behind at the under armour game. I could be wrong though

He probably won't do things very differently. It's his style. He just needs to improve a few areas because it's pretty clear he's more of a pure athlete playing RB than a pure RB with athleticism. Both can work. Just have to use them differently. When push comes to shove, i prefer the more instinctual and natural RB. But, the way offenses are now stretching the field horizontally, the emphasis on that trait is becoming less crucial, while that athleticism is becoming more useful.
