Possible Political Momentum Directed Towards The NCAA

I'd be more impressed if this was a US Senator or Representative doing this, but I'll take whatever I can get.

This is a State of Florida matter for the State Attorney to investigate. It is appropriate for the spark to the fire that will engulf the NCAA to come from Florida.

But some on here believe that DS has no power

I've been writing to Pam Bondi asking her to arrest and execute Democrats for a year now. Last time I looked, I'm surrounded by them.

I'll wait for action, not words.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Been repeating this over and over since the YAHOO story came out. We must identify and leverage every enemy, competitor, person or entity that can gain from the relative demise of the NCAA (or at least their investigation).

The first enemy of Charles Robinson that we came across was Whitlock. He carried a tiny torch railing against Robinson.

Now we need the real stuff. This might not help itself, but it's the type of stuff we should hope for.

One of the many things Donna is very good at is consensus-building. I would not be surprised if she has reached out to USC, Boise State, et al in an effort to generate a ground swell of interest in the NCAA's over-reaching. When you see conference commissioners and rival school coaches weighing in on this issue, I have to believe that is what's happening here. IMO Donna will turn this into something much larger than a UM versus NCAA issue.

State Reps/Sens are 1 step above internet attention whores. If this is an example of Donna "flexing muscle"...NOT IMPRESSED. If this were Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Marco Rubio, Bill Nelson, etc... I'd be impressed. Still grateful though.

The Florida Att Gen is a Gaytor.
Not looking for any help from her.

Never under estimate the draw of getting ones name in the news, especially those tied into the political field.
+1
If this lady is serious about advancing her career then she will jump on the opportunity! A high profile case like that?

Especially if a job well done means a whole new world of connections opens to her thanks to a certain someone who held office in D.C....

I respectfully disagree. Your life is very much affected in the state you live in by what those people you joke about decide in their respective chamber. As a practicing professional, I can tell you that the livelihoods of myself and my colleagues have been drastically affected but what those guys voted on and the state laws they have approved.

Southcane, Its because he is a non-cane poser on our board who prays its not true.

No, its because all the AG has done is confirm that they are "reviewing the request to investigate." Basically she has said that she will read the **** letter the good Sen sent over. I will wait until she files some sort of charge before I get excited. Sorry, but ain't nothing going to happen on this front. Stop grasping here.

This ... if some senator or congressman said something I'd write it off. The state level people either want to do good, or they want to make it to the next level where they don't do anything. This means more than if Obama or Bush said anything. IMO

I am really sorry that it this development is not exciting for you.
However, for the rest of us, any bad publicity directed at the NCAA is very good news.
Nobody here predicted an action from the Attorney General against the NCAA. But if you don't think news like this increases the pressure on the NCAA leadership then you are naive.

All politics is local. This Senator controls votes and wields some influence. Bondi has bigger aspirations. This Senator works in the same City as General Bondi. It's not a bad start. I know the former AG of Utah, Mark Shurtleff, very well. He tried to go after the NCAA because he recognized how much the issue resonated with his voters.

And all you've seen is one published letter. God knows what type of attention is being paid to this issue behind the scenes by higher tier politicians. Politicians read the papers. They are also opportunistic. It doesn't take a genius to realize there is a groundswell of criticism directed at the NCAA. We may need to trade in for a bigger bandwagon soon.
