Plus:

+ Randall Johnson: Duke gon Duke. he had over 100 yards on just 9 carries.
+ Stephen Morris: Threw the ball all over the place. At times he showed touch dropping back shoulder passes in the perfect spot.
+ Herb Waters & Rashawn Scott: With Hurns and Dorsett out, they were Morris' favorite targets and did a great job IMO.
+ Jontavious Carter: Best receiver on the white team hands down. Liked what I saw.
+ Beau Sandland: He didn't catch everything his way, but caught most of them that were catchable, and was tough to bring down.
+The Lewis Play: Pretty cool moment if you ask me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s0UJVWohhw

+The Old-Timers Play: I marked out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAuTnxYKb-I

+Al Golden's Track Suit: Looked like an extra in the Soprano's.

Neutral:

= Field Goal Kicking: Goudis is 'sposed to be the #1 guy and got one opportunity from 40-plus yards and missed. Walk-on Ricky Perez banged home 2 from about 30 yards away. Whatev.

Minus:

- Injuries: Herb Waters left the game in the 1st half holding his right arm. It didn't look like anything happened, but he never returned and was seen with his shoulder iced up. Alex Figueroa went down late as well. It was never mentioned what was wrong by ESPN's R-team calling the game.

Defense wasn't very good at all, but certainly saw some improvement from last year. Boys need to be in the weight room all summer taking it to that next level. Offense was spectacular; Scott and Waters made some amazing catches. I haven't been fully on the Coley bandwagon, I loved Fisch, but Coley really did some nice things with our offense.

Hated the Malcolm Lewis thing. I know it was cool that he was back on the field and looking healthy but this is supposed to be a big time player for us, not a mascot. Almost felt like Al was babying him.

PS. loved the track suit

That Malcolm Lewis thing was about the Family, first and foremost. Don't understand that, then don't understand the U.

Really liked that early ONE pressure by Grimble (haha, seems silly to point out one play but considering he's written off for dead, deserves note).

Hope Gus Edwards and/or Brandon Yosha are for real.

Dortch looked great in spots, adequate in others. Beaten by back shoulder throws that rivaled Aaron Rodgers. Need Ras I Dowling type sized CBs to defend that crap.

Gunter beaten once badly but more than made up with it with some great breakups.

Howard is getting better that's for sure. Still about a half step behind sometimes but improvement was seen imho. Others seem to disagree cuz Sweeney caught a 4 year quick out route on him, oh noes. Morris threw a td against him on the backside of the play if I recall. Was a nice play by Morris, great catch by Scott?, and not horrible coverage either.

Raphael Kirby with a breakup that led to a Perryman pic and a gif of the day moment.

We're going to have 6 of these WRs on NFL rosters in 3-4 years. Unreal. Carter was about where Al said he was -- needs to work on consistency but ceiling is unlimited.

Sandland put a lot of work in.

Still waitin on Deon Bush and that pass rush up front but hey, with that offensive line we got, and Bush's work ethic, I ain't got no worries. [/5Ringz]

Edit: left out Perez. We have a 'good' kicker problem with him knocking down 40 yarders.

One more:

+ Perryman: 2 picks. Had a big hit in the first half. I wasn't looking when it happened, just heard the crunch of the pads and "OHHHH", from the crowd. I knew it was him, and sure enough it was.

Pluses- all things considered..it was a GREAT crowd. Must admit I was shocked. It wasn't Nebraskas spring game attendance but it was better then last year!

- Rashawn Scott is a man. Will be our #1 receiver when it's all said and done.

- decent pressure by the front four from the orange squad. Hey..it's a start! Tyriq McCord was very solid today as well!

Minuses- I will keep it short..just pray that NOBODY gets injured from the starters ( besides the WR group) because our backups in most of the positions are pitiful. Smh. Most wouldn't even be serviceable ATM. They will get better with experience but if we march some of those kids out there on Sept 7th we will be walking to our cars by the 4th quarter. JMO.

All in all, great spring game and let's hope the boys work there butts off the next 5 months!

Dude you just don't get it do you....smh

listened to it. cant wait to watch it tomorrow night. sounds like morris had a great afternoon and had alot of time to pick apart the defense. averaging 20 yards per catch as a squad when morris is the QB is not bad at all. Duke had an easy day. Spring is in the books and we are on the right track. Excited now for summer and fall camp to get ALL the new guys in and thats when we really see the competition heat up.

And I'll say this... for Stacey Coley to see that we have multiple ELITE WR's and more than a handful who will get NFL looks, his choice to come to Miami says alot to me about his character. I know he will be ready to compete.

I'm a lifelong fan and an alum and I don't get it? I know as well as anyone that one thing that separates this school from all others is the fact that it is such a family. I don't like the idea of parading one of your best players out there as a mascot. He hurt his ankle, that is part of football, it isn't like it was a life threatening injury.

When Nebraska does it for a 5 year old cancer survivor that is one thing and a very honorable thing at that. This was completely different and it felt cheap and forced.

So who won between Crow/Williams?

Spring game notes
Wr was a strength and it showed...we have 5-6 future pro canes there.
Morris has come a long way. He was a little inconsistent last season. I.e. great 1st and 4th quarters and Houdini acts in the 2Nd and 3rd quarters. My biggest concern was his touch and he looked flawless today.
Duke was duke. I was unimpressed with the running game. I hyped up dillard and Crawford all off season. At least Crawford can catch.
I loved Sandland today. He had 6-7 catches. The TE in general i like the direction and all the two TE sets.
Defensively i thought Dortch did well. I didn't see too much from the safetys.
I thought the run defense was decent not great. A couple long runs where duke made something out of nothing

Just like anyone your entitled to your opinion, but honestly you can take that opinion and shove it. The kid has worked his *** off to rehab from a devastating injury very early in his career. I personally loved what they did for a great young man, and I loved the Romberg, Toretta, Johnson connection. Shame on you for calling the kid a mascot when all hes done is work to make it back for the spring.

Its not a secret the team has rallied behind Lewis, so why not showcase the hardwork the kid has done

I like Garrett Kidd in short yardage. The kid seems to catch whatever's thrown to him. Did it at Traz Powell as well.

I did not say he was a mascot. I said he was being paraded around like one. I never said he didn't work his *** off to rehab, stop making it like I have a problem with the young man. I really like Malcolm Lewis on and off the field.

But should we do that for every kid who has a season ending injury? This is big time college football and the kid got hurt. He's not Eric Legrand, he hurt his ankle. Somehow I don't see Jimmy or Howard or Butch doing this.

Oh and someone has a different opinion then you so they must shove it? Get over yourself dude.

Oh yeah, biggest minus imo - entire Miami Media on twitter.

Indicting the defense right away 1 1/2 quarters into the scrimmage. Mammary, Barry Jackson, Jorge Milian, and the rest were in midseason copycat mode, piggybacking off one anothers puns and glib remarks in some *********ory effort to outdo one another.

Let's ignore that
(1) The score last year was 7-6 at the time they really started jerking themselves off; how'd our defense fair last year?
(2) One of the scores was Malcolm Lewis.
(3) Two were back shoulder throws that were perfect in placement and velocity
(4) Most of the 2nds were in white jerseys,
(5) Our offense is going to be GOAT this year,
(6) were were vanilla as **** on defense

Worst local media ever.

Worst local media ever.

To the board,

We get what we deserve. What I mean is, if you support the herald/sun sentinel etc. then you deserve this.

If you buy their papers, you deserve this.

If you click on their site, you deserve this.

If you follow them on twitter, you deserve this.

I suggest sticking with Tim Reynolds or Chip Berrere (sp?).

Honestly G Reg, I'm not wasting anymore time on this, to say you hated something that showed team unity and true care for a human being whos just overcome a career threatening injury says enough about you. You have no idea how this idea came to be and I'm sure if Lewis had a problem with it, he would have voiced it. But like I said before the kid worked his *** off to make it back and deserved every right to participate in this game. Whether you agree with the fashion he participated in the game, couldn't be anymore insignificant.

He went out there and looked smooth as **** and me and the other thousands that stood on their feet and cheered for the kid, and the entire team that rushed him showed how the felt about it. Thats enough for me.

Nothing says more about a person then when they start out a post with their "credentials". **** outta here

I didn't watch the game, I don't care too much for spring scrimmages either. Not sure what the best possible result would be

1. Are the players healthy?

2. Are the players getting bigger, stronger and faster?

3. Are the players getting better?

4. Are the players learning the playbook and getting confident?

In the spring game, they split the squad and the teams go at it. Great, the score is X to Y. If during the season we're having issues going against a real opponent, uh oh! I think like usual our stupid fan base goes to extremes and sees issues where they don't occur. They make issues over plays they see in practice (from a 5 minute clip starring Chip Bererre) and they multiply them when they see them during a scrimmage. I understand there may be issues but calm down and just hope for the items above are happening. As fans we're not getting enough of a sample size to really know.

My credentials? Haha dude you need to chill out. It was being discussed what we liked and didn't like about the game. I didn't like the move get over it. Malcolm looked good running today I'm happy he was able to get in the game. Now you can stop acting like a douche simply because you disagree with me. Do you think Butch or Jimmy would ever do something like this?
