Player Development

There’s some kids that might turn out to be ballers, for sure. But one win doesn’t erase the stench of 12-13 for me.

QB development has been awful (starter is a transfer). Most of the highly rated RBs we recruited were busts. We now have a transfer starting at that position. We had to bring in Ajay Allen and Henry Parrish last year. Our bench is filled with 4/5 star WRs like ray ray and Jojo, but Sam brown transfers in and takes a job.

I can perform the same exercise on the defensive side of the ball.

Mario can recruit and coach up the OL. TBD in a lot of other areas
Ah. Thank you for identifying and marking yourself as the mope of the week. I would pick apart your comments to show you how dumb they are relative to player development, but you’re likely not capable of understanding things like blaming this staff for not developing the last regime’s guys is ridiculous. Carry on.

PS. It’s now 13-13.

Not ready to crown Moten. The good news is there's not a team on our schedule who will challenge our DTs significantly more than UF did. But that's not saying much. UF had a weak OL and we're not really playing anyone with a strong OL. The bad news is when we get to the playoffs, he's going to be facing a major upgrade in talent. Have to hope going up against our OL continues to make him better and prepared for that challenge.

Its early but I think Georgia Tech has a better O line then Florida. They looked good against FSU and Georgia State. I would circle that game as a test for our interior

This team put up 492yds at LSU, 494 vs South Carolina, 495 vs Vanderbilt and 500 at Missouri last year. I feel that we may have made them look even worse than they are.

I'm with you on this one. They could have easily gone 8-4 if they didn't choke 4th quarter leads to Missouri, FSU and Arkansa. Fla did lose some talent from last years team. On offense they lost their best WR and RB. Wouldn't surprise me Florida gives most of the SEC tough games

Mesidor, Barron, kiko & meesh were developed elsewhere. Only Bain was developed here of those you listed.
That has nothing to do with what I was talking about. I was merely saying that when you surround role players with a better core group, the results tend to be better.

It's great to see some of these guys who have been under the radar the last couple years come into their own.

Ahmad Moten - he was the 135th ranked DL in the 22 class. Has looked good the last couple of springs and really stepped up in this game. Looked like the 1T we need to eat up space in the middle.

Anthony Campbell - Not rated coming out of high school. 3* transfer from Louisiana-Monroe. Took a year of development, but played well in his snaps against Florida. Was there with Baron on the Powell INT.

Jaden Harris - 3* and 38th rated CB in 22 class. Had size and athleticism, but was moved to safety. Developed last year behind Kam and really had a breakout game against Florida.

Markeith Williams - lower 4* that was very undersized coming out of high school. Still looks frail but is a good deep player and showed it on the long 3rd down pass that he mirrored the receiver on the sideline and made the play. He still needs to add size/strength to be a reliable tackler IMO, but would definitely use him in 3rd and long packages because I feel he's near elite in his coverage skills as a safety.

Chase Smith - lower 4* athlete in 2021 class. He has been set back by injuries, but looked good in his snaps for Kiko on Saturday. He was one of my favorites in the 21 class, hope he continues to make plays when given a chance.

Anez Cooper - great eval - 84 grade and the 154th ranked OT in the 22 class. He's been good since his first year, but looked the best I've seen on Saturday.

Ryan Rodriguez - he surprised everyone being the starter at LG (at least it wasn't Lou) He has definitely improved, but is more of a Center than a Guard and struggled at times. May get the job next year after Carpenter graduates.

Overall I can see all the work the staff and the team have put in. I think they have weeded out a lot of the weaker talent. Mario practices hard and we saw some injuries the first couple years. I think that it strengthens players over time that put the work in. Wait til we stack these high 4 & 5 star players and we will be along side the Georgia's and Alabama's consistently making it to the playoffs and challenging for titles.

Jaden Harris was Mario's first Miami commitment. A 3 star out of Atlanta Riverwood. Not a great football school. Pretty cool seeing him develop like this.
