Pitt Post Game Plus/Minus

i get sick of this senior class. i felt every big play it was aj, kacy, ty, gaines, green etc missing a tackle or botching a play. I cant wait for some real talent to develop on defense.

and a real DC to develop them...not an ametuer that uses one legged defensive lineman to back peddle into coverage or split out wide to jam a TE.

lets be real, you can't shine s$%t. if eddie johnson, gionni and gabe were still here. ty never touches the field and gaines is probably a reserve.

I will keep this simple

Plus- we won in a cold weather game and finished 9-3 (vt and duke games played in awful weather without Duke). No doubt there is progress.

Minus- all our fans who cannot see that we are undermanned at DL and LB save for 52 and 17. Cannot expect the D to do much without the horses.

No horses in year 3?

Jesus.

DL is a junior, senior, 5year senior position- NOT Golden's recruits here

LB group took a big hit with the loss of EJ and Paul. No doubt a LB linep of EJ, 52, and Paul would be better than 54, JG, and Cornelius. Figs and Grace should help next year.

Lastly let's not dog the group that played this year too much. They wore orange and green throughout the NCAA ordeal.

The DLine has some good horses coming in but it may take another year before we actually put a solid starting group on D.

We were handcuffed by NCAA and negative recruiting so yes no horses in year 3 is correct but please have some perspective.

We are coming -not just there yet- but we are coming!

Morris played extremely well today.

He seemed confident in the pocket was making reads and checking the ball down to his 2nd and 3rd options. Well played game today by Morris

It's not always pretty at times but Howard/Gunter/Burns/Crawford can be one of the best CB groups in the country next year. If Deon can return and Jenkins keep improving that secondary can be lethal.

Crawford continues to take WAY too much **** from our fans. He gets picked on, but he makes a lot of plays for a kid that hasnt played the position that long. I love how all of our CBs like to stick their noses in there and hit. Crawford has impressed me in that area taking on blocks and making tackles all season long.

Positives:

- Stacy Coley will humiliate you and everyone you love on the field
- Stephen Morris went an entire game without looking like he was having an aneurysm during a play - he made some throws that remind you why scouts were sweating him
- We pass protected very well

Negatives:

- We didn't rush the ball well
- Pitt was ranked in the 100s in total offense and rushing offense and they went for over 500 total yards and 200 rush yards
- Another game, another day with a small amount of our biggest freak on the field on defense
- The defense has regressed from last year

I want to also add I saw McCord lined up covering their WR, the dude who broke Larry Fitzgerald's freshman reception record, not once, not twice, but at least 3 times. Are you freaking kidding me? And Shayon was back there in coverage too.

Lol, that´s nothing. I raise you a Luther-Robinson-in-coverage sighting.

Dan, I thought Stacy was having a myocardial infarction in the endzone after that reverse TD. He went down like Fred G. Sanford.

Plus
-Offense always had an answer and never let Pitt back in it whenever it looked they wanted to swing the momentum their way.
-Gus looked like the guy I always thought he'd be. He's slick.
-Morris was steady and didn't kill was any turnovers.
-Hit Man Hurns is a bad dude. Steady.
-Jimmy Gaines was all over the place. He played his best game.
-OL neutralized Pitt's only good player.
-This was 31's last game. I have no idea why they keep trotting him out there.
-Garrett Kidd saving us from giving up some giant kick returns.

Minus

-Another *** bum team joined Golden's 500 Club. Is that every team in the ACC that put 500 or nearly 500 on us other than Weak Florist? The fans of the 500 Club on here are left scratching their empty heads because they can't blame the offense for this one. Pitt was a stellar 106th in offense before the game, and that's not out of 400 teams either.
-If not for Garrett Kidd making some saving tackles, we give up a ton of yards on kick returns.

This

I don't understand why we are such a poor tackling team

It's a catch 22. Florida tackles during practice and over the summer and spring, and as a result they tackle well but have a ton of key injuries.

We don't tackle in practice so we start the season healthy, but we 're not a good tackling team

What are you gonna do?

We are a terrible tackling team, guys stick out their hands, or bump into each other, very few real sticks. To me this has been one of the biggest failures of this group. Not sure why, but sure tackling sucks.

Tackling is all talent and has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with coaching.

Here is the pass distribution for Morris today: Hurns 15, Coley 5, Walford 3, Waters 1, Crawford 1, Clements 1, Hagens 1, and Cleveland 1.
How was he checking down to anybody?
He has one read and that is find Hurns.

Seemed they were using our defensive scheme, drop 15 yards, I mean Hurns was so open on the sideline so often I thought Cornelius had switched teams.

Ok I could see your point if he forced the ball to him but he was wide open on 90% of the passing plays, the guy had 9 catches for 173.

If hes OPEN then throw him the ball simple as that
