Pitt Post Game Plus/Minus

Good that we won, but G-d dammit the defense is so bad. LB still lining up 5-7 yards off the line on 3rd and inches, smh. Anyway, we won. Gus and Clements need Dallas' carries in the bowl game. Gus' best game of his career. Why Clements gets so few touches is beyond me. Coley is a beast. Win the bowl.

I will keep this simple

Plus- we won in a cold weather game and finished 9-3 (vt and duke games played in awful weather without Duke). No doubt there is progress.

Minus- all our fans who cannot see that we are undermanned at DL and LB save for 52 and 17. Cannot expect the D to do much without the horses.

No horses in year 3?

Jesus.

We've got soap horses in the defensive football offices.

Dan, I thought Stacy was having a myocardial infarction in the endzone after that reverse TD. He went down like Fred G. Sanford.

Plus
-Offense always had an answer and never let Pitt back in it whenever it looked they wanted to swing the momentum their way.
-Gus looked like the guy I always thought he'd be. He's slick.
-Morris was steady and didn't kill was any turnovers.
-Hit Man Hurns is a bad dude. Steady.
-Jimmy Gaines was all over the place. He played his best game.
-OL neutralized Pitt's only good player.
-This was 31's last game. I have no idea why they keep trotting him out there.
-Garrett Kidd saving us from giving up some giant kick returns.

Minus

-Another *** bum team joined Golden's 500 Club. Is that every team in the ACC that put 500 or nearly 500 on us other than Weak Florist? The fans of the 500 Club on here are left scratching their empty heads because they can't blame the offense for this one. Pitt was a stellar 106th in offense before the game, and that's not out of 400 teams either.
-If not for Garrett Kidd making some saving tackles, we give up a ton of yards on kick returns.

I don't understand why we are such a poor tackling team

It's a catch 22. Florida tackles during practice and over the summer and spring, and as a result they tackle well but have a ton of key injuries.

We don't tackle in practice so we start the season healthy, but we 're not a good tackling team

What are you gonna do?

* Plus was Asante Cleveland's touchdown. You could see how thrilled he was. I thought back to last spring, and sitting next to his girlfriend at the spring game. Her nickname for him was Boo Boo, as in Honey Boo Boo.

* Hard to believe Coley had a minus but he did drop one of the prettiest passes Morris ever threw as a Cane

* Massive plus was the uniforms. All white is so much classier than that orange on orange garbage from last week

* Vital plus to maximize early and jump ahead by double digits. Pittsburgh could have run it at us relentlessly but that isn't their style so they weren't patient enough to do it, especially after falling behind. It might have been different if the scoreboard had been closer to level early. Big plus when Pittsburgh essentially stopped itself a few times.

+ Dorsett was able to make a cameo and at least step on the field for a few plays.

+ University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department for making the University of Miami's Athletic Department look legit by announcing attendance of 40,003 today.

- The entire defense. Its a comedy of errors at this point.

Our cornerbacks are good. Our safeties, linebackers, and defensive linemen are turrible.

There is one Weak point at safety for us(AJ). Besides that I am very confident in our entire secondary, talent wise. They are not always put in the best position to make a play, but the fact that opposing teams have 5-7 seconds to throw every play doesn't make them look good either.

Hurns eclipsed 60 catches and 1100 yards. Being steady is a good thing, but I feel like he's still getting slighted from some people. Not many WRs have gone over 1,000 yards here.

Only 4. Hankerson, AJ, Eddie Brown, and Hurns.

We are a terrible tackling team, guys stick out their hands, or bump into each other, very few real sticks. To me this has been one of the biggest failures of this group. Not sure why, but sure tackling sucks.

I want to also add I saw McCord lined up covering their WR, the dude who broke Larry Fitzgerald's freshman reception record, not once, not twice, but at least 3 times. Are you freaking kidding me? And Shayon was back there in coverage too.

I got sick when I saw that.

+ Down field blocking on Coley's screen and rush TDs. Walford, Crawford ,Mongo, Sentrel etc all did a great job getting out and getting blocks.

- OLBs setting the edge on run. Got destroyed all game

we are one game closer to starting fresh.

we are one game closer to starting fresh with guys who couldn't beat these seniors out on the depth chart.

not that they couldnt beat them out. i think this coach felt loyalty to kids who went through so much. that being said, if asante, green, gaines, ty, kc, aj, etc wanted to transfer
no one would probably take them. they are lucky to be here.

I get sick every time I see Walford lining up as a wideout. Wtf are we smoking there? He is no Jimmy Graham who confuses the D with that formation. Just a waste of time when we can use him down the middle.

i get sick of this senior class. i felt every big play it was aj, kacy, ty, gaines, green etc missing a tackle or botching a play. I cant wait for some real talent to develop on defense.

I also saw David Gilbert dropping into coverage a couple of times. This is how dorito tries to "catch them off guard"..... he uses people that no other coach in their rational mind would use to drop into coverage. Its actually revolutionary as it allows sub par talent to look like 4 star Heisman candidates
