I heard Banda sent this to Billy Gibson via facebook

Irvins basically saying we told him we wanted him but if he continued to flirt with Oregon we'd "go in another direction" aka DROP

He and his pops continued to flirt with oregon so we dropped him today

Not a huge surprise but, still stinks. Staff most likely higher on Carter & Smith & we should be bringing in some thoroughbreds next year..

More crying. Kid wants to go, kid go. This is a school bankrolled by Nike. None of this worries me. The cream rises. If he don't want play here, what can you do?

Ya'll are overreacting to this one.

If you're looking for a story, I don't think it's the loss of Billy Gibson given what he brings to the table, what we have and what we need.

The broader story here, however, may be our inability to establish strong enough bonds, the shakiness of some of our SoFla recruits and our current reality: we currently have little leverage.

I feel this more from a "what does this mean for other stuff" perspective than from a football perspective. Not to say Gibson's a bad prospect.

We already have a slow saftey that will never play on the roster named Robert Knowles.

Don't need another one.

Maybe our staff should start letting kids play the game? This has been a terrible month of recruiting.

With the way he is acting on twitter since his announcement, I believe this to be 100 % correct. His behavior reeks of sour grapes right now.

Yep. This kid has been committed for over a year and he decommitts just weeks before signing day despite not having clearly better options.

How can you say that after we locked down Donaldson recently?

Seems to me like the coaches were looking for an out on Gibson and they gave him one.

We should be happy.

I dont have a problem with him going. I think what we are bringing in is just fine, and sending a message that we are not going to play games is a good one.

When people were complaining about the post about Taggert offering Njoku, the idea that Taggert had some relationships with some SFL kids and now that he was at a bigger program and may start grabbing a few kids was dismissed. Here's number one.

Wow this staff sucks at recruiting
No they should show up with guns and handcuffs to keep a kid who wants to go across the country to Oregon with his friend. We are losing 2 SR starting safeties. Recruiting pitch done, nuff said. He wants to go, he go.

I'm not the panicky type, but I'm starting to worry about this Staff's ability to recruit successfully down here.

Yes, so I'm decomitting from the school that's less than 30 mins away from where we live, to go to a school 3200 miles away where they'll be luck to see me play live once a season, and that one time they do see me play I'll likely be chasing a USC or Washington receiver.

Golden recruited SoFla better his first year with sanctions pending and "bad SoFla relationships"

I can say that because it's what happened here. He would be in this class if we could've kept him from flirting. He did what was best for him and we took the out. It's a similar issue with some of the local guys we can't seem to connect with: Harley, Slaton, et al. Let's be real, Donaldson is a great get and I'm glad we locked him down. There's more of the other stuff going on right now, and that's fine. Gibson is not a football loss concern for me, as I also said. Focus on the entire message.
