This isn't a huge deal. It's not like we're running out of scholarships. We have 25 to give right now, plus more slots can be freed with jettisoning a few more deadweight kids.
If Burns actively lied to us, we honor his schollie for one year, and that's it. If we give Burns the benefit of the doubt, he gets a hardship schollie which frees up his schollie for another RB, but still allows him to get a full ride here.
Clearly, you do not understand how the "initial counter" rule works.
Look up the rules. You know how to Google.
You can't open up 85 scholarships simply by booting your entire roster. In ADDITION to an overall scholarship limit of 85, there are "initial counter" rules that limit how many scholarships may be awarded EACH YEAR. You don't get "25 PLUS however many guys you can kick off the team". That's not how the rules work.
It just gets tiring to watch uninformed people pontificate on how big our recruiting class will be, based on their misunderstanding of NCAA rules.
The only thing that allows us to exceed 25 is the number by which we were UNDER 25 last year (including the early entrant issue). In other words, we would have to know how many recruits from last year counted against 2015, specifically. And you can't just ignore the early entrants, as a prior coach may have burned that bridge by oversigning. It is hard to know the EXACT number, without being a coach or a recruiting reporter who has followed the issue since the rule was enacted.
But the one thing that I DO KNOW is that you can't increase your number of initial counters by kicking kids off the team.
