Patrick Surtain jr.

Even though I thinkl Surtain will probably sign with LSU, I'm liking how the staff is in it for the big fish. Hopefully we can sign Asante, and Campbell for the DB class, that would be great.

My prediction: Surtain to LSU; Asante is 50/50 between noles and us current, but will be a cane on signing day; Campbell is a cane

If we closed with those 2 I'd be satisfied with our DB class, if we just sign Campbell. It would leave me wanting one more stud DB in the class.

Patrick Surtain Jr. | CB, 6-2, 192, Plantation, Fla./American Heritage, ESPN 300 No. 6
Schools in the mix: LSU, Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Miami
The son of former NFL cornerback and American Heritage head coach Pat Surtain has long been considered a lean to LSU with Ohio State, Clemson and Florida State taking turns as most likely challenger. The five-star's recruitment will kick into high gear with official visits in January before a signing-day announcement.

I’ve never understood this mindset.

This whole “we’re at the table” moral victory BS is fine for a little while I guess. But quickly turns into being a cuck.

You win or you lose. That’s it.

We can finish a close second place for 10 5-star recruits. But that still means we get none.

Last year with Jerry Jeudy. We were close. He was even so nice as to give our coaches a shout out in his commitment tweet. So tell me, how many catches did he have for Miami this year?

No such thing as moral victories on local recruits. Either you sign them, or you failed. That “at the table” and “we fought hard” **** is meaningless when it comes to local guys.

This. People often mistake “being at the table” for top guys as progress in recruiting but it’s meaningless. We’ve been “at the table” for top recruits for decades now and often fall short.

Yup. This.

I know we arent signing every top kid down here, but there is no way moral victories exist with a local kid. They are always a miss. If there is a sleeper and we never uncovered him, thats on us, too. Thems the breaks when youre in such a fertile, battleground region. Get them all. No excuses.

Well we’re not even “at the table” with this guy, so let’s not get excited for a guy that won’t put us in his top six.

We’re at the kiddie table with the little chairs and plastic utensils.

More than the 13 he had on the WHOLE season at Alabaga?

Spot on about "the table" horse$hit though. That's talk for someone like Golden....in his first year.....where you're reaching for anything to buttress your optimism. I bet we hear a lot about Tagfart getting FSU "to the table" on a ton of kids that end up elsewhere soon too.

CIS is funny

One thread you get repped for this opinion, another thread negged to Bolivia

Lol Merry Christmas y’all

Battles like this and our planning determine good recruiters. Ok...miss on PSJ...but land Campbell and Samuel...thats **** Randy, Golden couldnt do. Theyd swing n miss on all three and sign some *** from the northeast or their buddy's un-recruited MAC-bound prospect just to fill numbers. Or wait to see who is available after signing day.

Being "at da table" could mean something in a recruiting battle depending where you sitting at da table. In da case of Surtain, Miami may be at da table, but they at the opposite end of the table from Surtain and LSU. Surtain been a strong LSU lean since birth. It would be Christmas in February if he committed to Miami. I will not excoriate da staff if they do not sign Surtain.

Following da early signing period, where Miami signed almost all of their verbal commits, the February signing date will come with a lower success rate. Miami gonna get its share in February.

All "at the table" means is they are using us as leverage for a bigger bag. "Gotta pay me or Miami is, umm, at the table." I'm sick of the games played at our expense.

It's a **** shame that morons on here are already saying surtain or bust.

Dude didn't even have us in top 6 , never wanted to come here. The fact that we even have a shot shows the staff is working

The recruits that entertain the idea of coming here then choose other places are the ones that are "missed". Not dudes we never had a shot with

Campbell is the one the staff has to close this would be icing on the cake. Anyone who knows recruiting has written off surtain for over a year

We are squarely at the table. But if we accept your theory that we aren’t, if you can’t even get to the table then you failed too.

Call it a failure now and get it out of your system, to avoid the emotional meltdown later.

We’re not sitting at the adult table. You have to listen to what people say. We didn’t listen to Jobe, he gave off all the signals. This guy isn’t even wavering - he’s said we’re not in the ballpark. Let’s listen this time instead of projecting. Unless someone can show me differently.

Now, we don’t give up we keep recruiting him. But keep this in mind.

I'll keep in mind that some of you guys are bent on trying to keep expectations down. Sign him, or you failed. Too much in our favor to botch this or Campbell.

Cuck is a different story completely from this guy, so I don't know what his situation has to do with it.

So if you dont sign a player who really never had any real interest in your program, it's a failure? Sound logic.
