What Franchise is saying isn't that complicated.
If he is taking visits then he isn't fully locked into a decision.
And if he isn't fully locked in to LSU, then being as he is a top 50 player and that we are the hometown team, there is no reason we shouldn't be recruiting him.
Might be like a 5% chance, but no harm in recruiting him.

I dont think we are not recruiting him. But why waste energy and resources if we are not feeling any love from him. I think Pete said this same thing about Nigel Bethel. That the staff is getting weary of chasing him as we are not feeling any love back. I am all for trying until the bitter end like we did with Jeudy but I am not for wasting time if the kid has shown us zero interest too.

But he has shown interest in UM as he attended more UM home games in 2016 than any other recruit in the 2018 cycle and recently attended a camp at UM and his father was quoted in the article I posted as saying that UM is a school he has interest in. The "he has no interest in UM" is just inaccurate.

Also, even if there was an ultimatum, I'd rather us recruit Surtain than Bethel. Bethel is a guy I'd ONLY want after he plays his senior season and we missed out on our other bigger prospects. We get Campbell I straight up don't want Bethel, but I sure as **** would still want Surtain.

Everyone is guessing. He and Tyson Campbell really got those poker faces going right now because we are all speculating. If they were 100% guaranteed a package deal, then I'm sure most people would be fine with taking Chatfield, But thats only because Chatfield isn't a scrub. He's a good player, he just doesn't completely fit the mold coach Kool wants.

But they just aren't a package deal. Sure, some of them may end up playing for the same school, but Campbell isn't choosing a school because Chatfield is. And Surtain doesn't give a **** where they go, which is clear by the fact that he's the only one that is heavily favored to LSU.
So no, if Kool doesn't want Chatfield, we shouldn't go after him. Simple as that.

There's no evidence that Surtain is totally uninterested in Miami. He went to more UM games than any recruit last year, has been on campus a few times and he and his family are close to Rumph. This case is different than Bethel because this kid's a monster prospect. You recruit the fck out of guys like this.

He and his dad have a pretty longstanding relationship with Rumph. He doesn't appear to be in need of bags. What gives, insiders?

I agree I would rather chase Surtain then Bethel as Bethel has shown us little to no love considering he goes to the West which should be a feeder school for us.

Theres also a difference between losing a recruiting battle, and Completely ******* up a recruiting battle.
Not getting Surtain is a loss, but it's not a loss like losing Nesta would be.
Like if we don't get Surtain, I'm not gunna say the coaches didn't do a good job. We're not going to win every recruiting battle. It's just not going to happen.
But if we lose Nesta, I'm gunna say they ****ed up hard. Don't really care the excuse.

That would be very odd for his dad not to give his friend, who is also the guy who helped him get the HC gig at Heritage, a fair shot at signing his son. If Surtain has no interest in UM, then why'd he attend more UM games than any other recruit in 2016?

I don't think Chatfield is committed to OSU is he...he got offered by them but that was to get the other two...once they found out taking him didn't mean Nesta and TC would follow they took his number out of their phone.We have a better chance of getting Campbell,Surtain and Marshall than Chatfield does of ever playing a down there unless the other do follow him.
