Patrick O'Donnell Punter?

A new name appeared on the post-spring depth chart Tuesday. Pat O'Donnell, a graduate punter from the University of Cincinnati, is listed as the Canes' No. 1 punter and is also listed on the depth chart for field goals, kickoffs and placeholder. O'Donnell has signed a financial aid agreement with the University of Miami and is expected to enroll in either the summer or fall semesters. O'Donnell averaged 41.8 yards per punt on 59 attempts with the Bearcats in 2012, while dropping 23 kicks inside the 20-yard line and booting 10 kicks of 50+ yards.

Great news, it doesn't seem huge today but when we are trying to hold on to a lead in the 4th quart, people will be happy to have him. I can see it know, 50 yard punter inside the 10 yard line to help kill the gators chances on Sep. 7

Financial aid agreement means the scholarship question is moot, he is taking out loans to play. Says a lot about what he thinks can happen this year and his drive to be a part of it

Botts had a very good year. If this guy can duplicate last season for us, we'll be in great shape again. I saw 3 or 4 Cincy games on TV last year and this guy is good. Most of his punts inside the 20 were ones he lined up and kicked them out of bounds to make sure they didn't go into the end zone.

He is not eligible to sign a NLOI. Instead, like the high school kids who are EEs who can't sign a NLOI, he signs and agreement with UM that they will porvide financial aid (just like Dobard, Knighton, Odogwu and Figueroa) and he will be on scholarship IMHO.

Exactly. People need to use their noodles. Why the **** would an All-American caliber punter/KO man leave the school he's been at for 4 years to walk on somewhere and pay $50K in tuition?

His dad is on the Monopoly board?

He used up his 4 years at Ciny...

2012 59 41.8 65 2467
2011 63 43.8 76 2760
2010 52 41.9 61 2178
2009 7 37.9 50 265

Botts was just as good last year...with a 40.5 avg.....

The contention that his eligibility has been used up doesn't seem to square with the fact that "Bearcats Nation" seems flabbergasted by his absence from spring practice.

Or that the Miami facebook thingy just posted he's going to play for us next season. Or that ESPN lists him as a junior.

Career average 42 YPP is better than Botts, so we just filled that loss. Can't ask for anything better than that.

Fellowship more likely and hopefully. If he is on a graduate fellowship like the majority of graduate students then he won't count against our 85 man scholarship limit.
