Per Cash on other thread- "Here enters Patrick O'Donnell from Cincinatti. Has one year of eligibility left & I was told he signed his papers to UM last week for Grad School. He's probably one of the best punters in the country. Not sure if he kicks FG's but he has an incredibly strong leg. He played at the same High School that KC McDermott is coming from."

And then article from Cincinnati Bearcats site- http://bearcatsnation.com/2013/04/09/where-in-the-world-is-pat-odonnell/

That is pretty awesome!

If the ball is anywhere within 60 yards of the scoring endzone in a college game and a punt doesn't win the game via time literally running out, go for it each time.

You down with that strategy Lu? Isnt that some very new way of thinking, some guys dont even punt, lol... What made you buy in?

The McDermotts, Gabe Terry, AJL and now this guy... That's five from Palm Beach Central that intended to or did come to Miami. If AJL qualified Miami would have more players on their roster from Palm Beach Central than any other high school.

Really the FG kicking situation is pretty simple to fix. We just score a TD every time we have the ball! See fixed

Was writing it more in jest, but ya...I think it's an interesting strategy. I know there were times last year where we were in "no man's land" (where you can't kick a FG and a punt is only worth it if your punter absolutely sticks it inside the 10) that I was skeptical of our conservative strategy.

Our defense, though? Before you respond, I don't buy the, "Well, if they are going to score anyway we might as well go for it," argument.

From ESPN....

When I attempted -- rather pathetically -- to go through Cincinnati's winter workout program earlier this year, I joked to the strength coaches that maybe I could at least do as well as a punter. They shook their heads and told me I had a long way to go to match their punter in the weight room.

Well, now I don't feel quite so bad about it. Colleague Bruce Feldman has released his annual "Freaks" list of workout warriors, and Bearcats punter Pat O'Donnell scored a victory for punters everywhere by checking in at No. 10. Writes Feldman:

"Yes, a punter. Don't roll your eyes, though. This guy is one of the more imposing punters since the Pittsburgh Panthers' MMA fighter Dave Brytus. The 6-foot-5, 217-pound O'Donnell has a 355-pound bench, broad jumps 9'2" and his 10-yard split of 1.53 seconds is actually faster than the time Jeff Demps clocks."

Feldman lists West Virginia defensive end Bruce Irvin among those players who just missed the cut. If O'Donnell is making this list ahead of Irvin, that tells you something.

So, does that mean that we can once again have a punter that plays wide receiver? Brian Monroe, where art thou?
