Cam is also the king of having to constantly dodge multiple defenders in the backfield. The blocking he got this year is the worst I have ever seen at this school. Lineman being completely rag dolled into his lap three and four yards deep in the backfield.

Because I could see a situation where we top out at 15-20 HS kids who sign, but if we lose enough of our current roster to the Portal, we'd have plenty of replacement ICs.

Why wasn't Knighton making those big runs? Those count, too.

I'd get the argument if Knighton and Chaney were getting us 4-6 consistently. But they are home-run hitters, too. They've just been less successful in hitting them as runners.

Because he and Chaney are still developing and most of CIS underestimate Cam’s talent.

Manny’s powder puff practices were a HUGE reason we lacked physicality on the line on both sides of the ball. The offensive line and front seven have better fundamental football in them but that needs to be brought out of them with tough practices that simulate real game conditions.

Mario is going to grind those guys and they will be much more physical, consistent, and hold blocks longer. There will be fewer instances of our linemen getting rag dolled and destroying plays.

A healthy Chaney is an All America level talent. Rooster is a versatile player that is a HUGE problem in the passing game. His vision and footwork will improve and help him find bigger holes. We are in good shape.

I would take Parrish. That gives you 5 backs. Anybody gets hurt and we are not in dire straits. We are young on the outside. We can keep Parrish and Knighton happy with touches in the passing game TVD is good at finding the backs. Chaney is the workhorse and Thad a battering ram. We should use more 2 back sets since we are thin and young at tight end. Move Knighton and Parrish around, use motion, get creative.

Brown would be the odd man out this season. If he can hold his own as we sign more freshmen, his opportunity will come. If not, he can transfer.

Take out all the cupcake games and he isn’t close to 5ypc. In fact take out those cupcakes and he has like 4 actually good games in his career - 2021 against UVA, 2020 against Louisville and Duke, and 2020 against Georgia Tech.

Man tell that young stay where he at. Miami is full. But fr grass isn’t always greener. There’s competition everywhere. I know we stole his position coach who’s also the guy who recruited him..but I’d advise any kid to stick it out unless a school has a spot waiting for them. The portal is mess

Cam Harris- 153 carries, 727 yards, 4.75 yards per carry
Jaylan Knighton- 188 carries, 711 yards, 3.78 yards per carry

The facts tell a different story than the narrative. I think Knighton is a better player because he's so dangerous as a receiver. But as a runner, both Knighton and Chaney lag behind to this point. Hopefully it changes because they are more talented.

He was constantly corralled in the backfield with no momentum by multiple defenders. That is why if appears he was indecisive on so many runs. He gets the ball there is a man in his face 2 yards deep in the backfield. He patiently eludes that guy only to run into 1 or 2 more guys who have completely whipped our linemen. The number times a lineman got rag dolled INTO THE HANDOFF is embarrassing.

For whatever reason, the line blocked much better for Chaney and Knighton than Cam. A big part of it was replacing Clark with Gaynor. Another part was play calling. Cam and Rooster got more draw plays and we blocked those better. I thought we were better in man blocking schemes than zone blocking. Some of our power plays had bad results, but we improved at it as the season went on.

The difference in blocking between Cam and the other backs made me wonder if there was bad blood with him and the offensive line. The difference in the same games was noticeable.

Cam made some AMAZING runs this year and showed incredible patience, vision, and skill that comes from him being experienced. The reason he had better stats with worse blocking is his patience. Chaney and Rooster just take off. Sometimes they get stuffed. Sometimes they get 5 or 10. They hardly ever got big plays though. They will get better as they get more experience.

Sometime before spring, I am going to do a full breakdown on King and Cam and dispell the myths that have been placed on them by posters (not necessarily you) with shiny new object syndrome.

King and Cam have gotten a bad rap when they were true Canes that made big plays in adverse circumstances.
