Paradise Camp 2017 (July 21-22)

IMO, young man has gone about his recruitment in a responsible and non-diva fashion. Maybe he doesn't feel he needs to be on the campus, or maybe he has an aversion to us. I'm sure he's getting pulled in several directions...if he wants to come here, I want him, if he doesn't, I don't. I've never heard the old Canes talk about forcing players to come here.

I'm silent because I haven't heard anything directly from him. I'm definitely not worried about any grumblings concerning other schools from reporters for two reasons, they're from other schools they have to remain optimistic at the very least for clicks' sake, and he's not making a choice anytime soon. I last saw him on the weekend before the Opening. The kid's just doing his due diligence.

This is the part that makes sense to me. I get it and it is smart on his part. My concern is why doesn't he visit our campus or coaches? Maybe he has gone a million times. Maybe he doesn't find the need to visit. I just find it hard to believe that one doesn't visit campus when they are interested in attending a specific school.

On the other hand, CJ Henderson visited a million times and look what happened.

Edwards too. We dang near gave them uniforms they were on campus so much...and look what happened.

U could tell they were both busters tho. From their play style to their demeanors off the field.

Yup... And now instead of uniforms they have outfits.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think the guys who are on campus more are the guys from Down South(Bandy, Jobe, Frierson, BJ Handyson, etc.) and the Overtown/City areas(Booker T., Central, The West, etc.). IIRC, Most of the North Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach kids don't visit with the same frequency.

Gurvan Hall is on campus constantly..

Recently, with his knee injury. I knew someone was gonna pull him outta their *** lol. If he were full strength, I think he'd be preparing for his senior season with his present team and not rehabbing and getting familiar with his future team 70 miles down the road. Harley and Herbert(especially the latter) weren't exactly mainstays in CG until it became clear we were threats & favorites in their recruitment. Garvin didn't "live" on campus like that. ****, even North Dade guys like Wilder & Steed didn't visit as much as the Down South boys I mentioned. West Grove is literally 5-10 minutes away from campus, so guys like Frierson and Jobe should be there all the time. If you're from Dade you know that folks tend to stay on their side of Flagler St. IMO, driving down to that area from Opa-Locka and north is a pain in the ***. Don't get me started with the traffic when you get down there. I live in Carol City and going to Ty's crib feels **** near like I'm driving to Naples. I highly doubt that his folks are feeling that drive multiple times a week. However that's one of the things I try to sell him on. The hometown school is close enough for him to reach his family or vice-versa if needed but far enough for him to experience his college years without his folks hovering over...

And hasn't Nesta been on campus pretty often?

FIU campus is even farther from North Dade. So is Clemson's.

Having said that, I'm getting that feeling Ty is a silent. All this apparent disinterest in UM is a smokescreen.

Missing Paradise Camp is a very big deal, no matter how you want to spin it.

Bandy, Herbert, jeff Thomas, jonathon garvin, jhavontae dean and others didn't attend paradise camp yet they still signed with Miami

Jeff Thomas was not being recruited at the time, and Jhaontae Dean was a JuCo.

Look, man, you act like you know everything from your perch up there in Atlanta, but you are just a very good googler.

Jeff Thomas absolutely was being recruited at the time. He named bama and Miami as his top 2 schools around the opening last year and listed Miami in his top 5 during the beginning of december last year.

Now what does this article say from July of 2016?....

Bama on top for Top100 WR, one other team chasing
Hank South - Jul 6, 2016 VIP 4

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Alabama hosted four-star receiver Jeff Thomas out of East St. Louis (Ill.) last month for its 7on7 tournament.

“It went good,” Thomas told BamaOnLine of the visit. “It was a lot of competition that I liked.”

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound receiver had his high school team alongside with him.

“Just to see what we looked like for the season coming up,” Thomas said of what it was like to experience Tuscaloosa with his friends. “We looked pretty good.”

The four-star receiver talked about the opportunity to sit down with Bama head coach Nick Saban.

“It meant a lot to me,” Thomas said. “(His message was) Stay focused, keep my grades up and just keep working hard.”

Thomas is in frequent contact with wide receivers coach Billy Napier and plans to hopefully visit Tuscaloosa again later this summer.

Is Alabama currently the leader?

“Yeah,” Thomas said.

What stands out most about Tuscaloosa?

“The campus,” Thomas said.

Currently, only one other program is a serious contender for Thomas’ services.

“Miami,” he said.

Thomas is rated the No. 9 receiver and the No. 62 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Alabama is the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite at 50 percent.

And hasn't Nesta been on campus pretty often?

And Nesta's not publicly committed to us? Plus he still hasn't been there as much as the guys with SW or some named street in Coconut Grove in their addresses. Remember, people were on here griping about how Edwards wasn't on campus as much until he committed to us(before subsequently pulling his move). To me it's simple, if they can spit on the campus from their front yards, they'll be there more than the kids who have fill their gas tanks for a visit...
