Over 10’ Miami Canes miss practice, some with (non-COVID) virus. Others might transfer

Why do I get the feeling that Manuel Diaz is not overly respected amongst the players?

I guarantee that the players ALL sit at full attention, bug eyed staring dead into Manny's mouth as he speaks 😳

What I can't tell is if they're actually listening or thinking WTF!!

Not gonna lie I don't feel great dogging McCloud for this but it had to be someone and he's been with Manny for 6 years.

He such a politician. Those of y'all who still argue for this man I just want you to know HE'S BLATANTLY LYING TO Y'ALL'S FACES & THIS MEDIA HELPS PERPETRATE HIS STORY LINES... Covid or any other illness has nothing to do with any of this. You had more than 20 kids this past week and most of the same group this week as well skip practice. A good percentage of kids exploring transferring including quite a few of the young bucks. No one wants to play for this lisp having pedo... Fvck outta here with this clown show
I'm not sure I understand.....

U think a coaching change would be enough to talk the younger ones off the ledge? Depending on who it is anyway.
IMO I think that’s what they are waiting on. He leaves some will stay, he gets fired some may stay and some may still go. Upperclassmen that’s been here and haven’t produced are good as gone. The next coach I believe won’t have patience with them. A few of these young guys were reaches and that if plan A and B were landed they would of never been offered. So I can see a few of them looking for greener pastures. But at the end of the day these are kids that are fed up and they have an administration that do not seem to care much about it.

You think that’s ok to do? Just not show up for practice at a school giving you a full ride? Are they still taking meals and getting treated for any injuries?

Regardless of who the coach is, that’s acceptable?
You have a tendency to do that... Nowhere did I say this is good or acceptable or not one single word that even gave that incling. I simply stated our current situation & why were in it. Because me I don't tolerate liars. He's blatantly lying. He didn't come out and say look I've lost my team. Kids don't wanna play for me and they don't respect neither myself or their teammates enough to stick with it. Do I blame them however is something completely different. As I explained to my nephew, I don't ever agree with walking out on my brother's... But I've also never walked in those shoes. I didn't buy the lies of a used car salesman and sit by casually while I watched my dreams fade away because my coach was incapable of doing his job and too big of an egomaniac to simply own HIS OWN FLAWS... Just own what you are and fall back on the experience of people like shoop. Finally own you ain't the smartest man in the room and learn. Otherwise ****off.

But but but, he's a Miami guy. Miami talent can only relate to people who know the Miami culture. So, Manny is the perfect cultural fit, so obviously the players love and respect him. They'd run through a brick wall for him, because he's a Miami guy. If Manny was from Iowa, we'd have a real problem on our hands now, wouldn't we?
See this is where I agree we need the middle finger emoji back. He is literally the opposite of a Miami guy as that saying has zero to do with where he's literally from. He's a ****** Cuban who was born and raised with a silver ****** spoon in his mouth. He spent not one single day having to earn **** he's seeing the fruits of now. He's a piece of **** SEMENHOLE who shouldn't have been allowed to step foot on our campus. A Miami guy is someone who has a particular mindset and had to grind to get where he is because otherwise life held limited favor for you. He's a politicians son and a ****** used car salesman. So PLEASE miss me with the Miami guy line. Sarcasm and ur witty zingers are wasted on someone like this...

It was a genuine question, not a gotcha.

I didn’t come close to implying you agreed with it. I wanted your honest opinion

Than I'm glad to hear that as we seem to be done with the going back and forth at each other. My bad for the assumption. This staph just keeps me on edge. Whole ****** weekend I get calls having this clown thrown in my face. I'm just tired. I can't even argue it with former teammates anymore

This resonates both ways with me.
- I personally would not want to play for Diaz and some of these coaches, especially with what i've seen on the field. A few coaches seem ok but the overall feel of this program is that of a joke.
- That said, a player is showing true colors by skipping practice. It's one thing to be upset but it's another to quit. You don't get better if you miss practice. You don't get better for your next coach at Miami (or elsewhere) by skipping practice. Life doesn't get easier and just bc you don't like your boss, it doesn't mean you can just stop showing up, unless you plan to quit....be it in the NFL or real working world. All of that leads to character/leadership issues, which is the biggest virus in this program the last 5-6 years.
100% agree....there is a bunch of soft *** dudes on this team.

Again....they like the fact that they play or are on the team at UM and nothing else.....their goal was to get to UM and they did it...enjoy all the perks but anything sort of tough they are high tailing.

Honestly if 20 of them went in the portal......Which of them would even go to a legit power 5?.Most of them will be group of 5 level or even lower.

When I spoke with you and PBuch last week...his feeling was mutual...he had even more disdain than you if that's possible...

Having 1/4 of the team just no longer show up… sure seems like the misery with Mandy is about to end thankfully. Let’s all hope anyways.

A good coach does not have to be a "Miami guy". A good coach can be from anywhere and do well here. A good coach doesn't need to know some secret Miami formula for success in order to do well here. All they have to do is get the talent in and get the most of it. Currently, being a Miami guy does not mean you can coach or get the most out of the talent you have on your team. People go full ****** thinking just because someone was at Miami during their glory years they will be able to snap their fingers and turn back the clock 30 years.

I am also sick of people ruling out coaches that are from somewhere other than Miami because they won't be able to relate to players down here. F all that. A good coach gets the most out of his players, and it doesn't matter if they are corny as ****, from Idaho, or both. Players respond positively to coaches that put them in the best position to succeed, and nothing else.

I will agree with you 100% on Manny not being a Miami guy. It's the illusion of being a Miami guy that got him this job, and nothing more. My problem is we need to stop thinking we need a Miami guy, because what makes a Miami guy a Miami guy is WINNING. Not simply relating to local talent.
