Ousman traore commits

To say Campbell got passed up is premature, Zion is a LT & Campbell is a RT & has played some at Guard in the Spring.

The RT competition is wide open & still has a chance to get that spot. The official OL hasn't even lined up once together because Gaynor was out the entire Spring & the entire line had to be reshuffled.

Wait till Fall camp before we start throwing dirt on caskets.

I wasn’t throwing dirt on the casket, actually wanted to hear something positive about Campbell.

It’s not like our LT was the injury for the spring game. Gaynor went down and we shifted the whole OL around to get Zion in the lineup. Staff could have left scaife at LT and put a few guys in at LG.

My money is on Campbell in the Fall, Herbert doesn't have the natural strength of Campbell & is going to struggle vs Speed rushers just as he did in HS.
We will see, players progress in college. Herbert had the injury and seems to be progressing from it so he should be getting stronger than what he was. Campbell certainly has the length to play tackle but may be better suited for a guard.

I don't think Zion will start vs UF, but at some point in the season I wouldn't be shocked if he did eventually get some starter snaps. He's up to around 270lbs as of now & still putting on more weight.

While it's not ideal, it's happening a lot more throughout college football.

Alex Leatherwood played in 7 games his Freshman year at Bama
Saahdiq Charles & Ed Ingram started as a Freshmen for LSU
Foster Sarell & Walker Litle started as a Freshmen for Stanford
Andrew Thomas started as a Freshman for UGA & was an All-American
Ken Jarvis started as a Freshman for Michigan St
Jack Anderson started as a Freshman for TTech
Cesar Ruiz started as a Freshman for Michigan

In 2018:
Cade Mays started as a Freshman at UGA
Penei Sewell started as a Freshman at Oregon
Creed Humphrey started as a Redshirt Freshman at Oklahoma

I got you, but Leatherwood was a 5*, the best player in his class from the state of Florida and like 320 lbs in high school. Zion Nelson was a 3* from SC and 240. (don't mistake me for a star *****, but you get the point.) We stole Zion from Appy State. Leatherwood had offers from every program in the country. People across the country expected Leatherwood to come in and simply take playing time away because he's just a freak.

If Zion can pull this off given where he was starting out from 6-9 months ago, it would be pretty miraculous given the expectations at the time. That's all I'm trying to say. If it turns out as you say it could, we just absolutely STOLE ourselves a massive hidden gem.

It’s much easier and wiser to move around experienced guys who have already played those other positions than to try and teach an EE who needs to gain 60 pounds multiple positions. It wasn’t only Gaynor that was out, we had other OL out as well, may have been Hillery but can’t remember. Plus the shifting of positions started before Gaynor was out due to other injuries. The shifts were done by Barry so that he could see who he could rely on at multiple positions in case we suffer the same run of injuries in the regular season.

I mean thats kinda his job fam
No sir. Its certainly not. His job is to speak on things like this once it occurs. Not before. A kid deserves the right to choose his own path with this. Yes,its certainly his job to speak on things like this in vague terms. No names related. Not to tell people this particular kid just did this. I'm leaving this alone from here though. I understand people care one way or the other. For me the kid,any kid is far more relevant in this discussion than a reporter who's stealing his moment hes waited years for. Put yourself in this kids shoes. I dont know many peoples situations on here relating to there profession or sports past. But think if you were this kid who has played and sacrificed at something **** near his whole youth. This announcement is a BIG DEAL BECAUSE OF SOCIAL MEDIA. That's why all these edits are so relevant to kids. They want that spotlight. I might not agree but they deserve to choose how and when a decision this large should come out. Is what it is now though.

I like Ivins and think he’s generally a good objective reporter. However, I agree he stole the kids moment and thats wrong. Its ok to like someone and still call them out when they fock up. At the very least not justify what they did.

Normally I would say “anyone makes mistakes” and brush it off but if he’s already done this multiple times than that **** just has to stop, no excuses.

It’s not just Social Media either, Kids have always treasured this moment and wanted to be the ones that broke the news on what for most of them is the biggest decisions of their young lives until this point. Let’s all try to respect that.

By my count, we are out of 2019 Counters, but it's not easy to track and I can't say I'm 100% sure (mainly because of walk ons receiving scholarships and some of those recent rule changes). I think @DerekDohrman and @Cuban-Cane have been keeping track of this as well. Maybe they can confirm my suspicion.

i think we might have 1 spot left. i havent followed as closely since signing day, but we left off with two spots left, and i believe this guy takes one of those.

there was also some speculation that we could have jalen phillips blue shirt, so if he qualifies for that, i suppose we could take 2 more kids in addition to Ousman Traore for 2019
