Our Single Most important recruit for 2014

I actually think Clark is the wrong answer. Clark is not going to be ready to go for a a few years and Miami needs to win now. So while getting young DT's is important, getting a defensive linemen that is ready to play now is even more important. So a big time instant impact JUCO DT is the most important recruit

I think Clark has more potential than Valentine but Valentine is a more polished prospect right now. Either way, I don't expect either of them to make an huge impact next season, so a JUCO would fit us best. There's no instant impact 2014 JUCOs with heavy interest in us right now though so if I had to choose between Clark & Valentine Ill pick Clark. Valentine has off the field question marks.

It is early some monster JUCO will emerge during the season. I also think Valentine is more talented that Clark.

We'll be fine with Yearby... He's not as fast as Cook but he's fast enough as well as possess exceptional vision... I think any quality DT will be a need as well as wideout... I'm sorry I don't see that game changing wideout just yet after this year... I see some solid players but no playmakers as of right now... All that can change with Griffin and Coley but I think fans downplay the need of wodeouts...

Top recruits are attracted to successful coaches. What you say creates a false dichotomy, like we should have either elite athletes or elite coaching. We can have both. Golden still has much to prove in that regard. This year for him is pivotal on many levels, but I am cautiously optimistic based on how we finished last year and who we have coming back. My point about the SEC is that as a Cane, all we need to show them is our play when we line up across from them. The only program in that conference with more mncs than us is Alabama. We will NEVER get all of elite kids in SF. The recruiting game has changed. Social media and "globalization", if you will, have made the world much smaller. What we need to focus on is getting the right kids, the kids that fit what we do and yes some, perhaps many, of them will be elite but as you know SF is a haven for elite athletes, which is why I'm not as concerned about losing Sony. We bought the hype that he was going to be a Miami Hurricane going back to him being in Junior High School. We recruited him hard, and for now he's going elsewhere. Later for him. I celebrate the kids that want to be Hurricanes. And truthfully we haven't lost Lane or Sony for that matter since this is just June.

Huh? F&ck showing the sec anything. We do what we do. The local kids are staying at home. We can't get every big named recruit coming out of SF. The kids you name should want to rep their home team. If they don't later for them. As we win more and more and the NCAA stops its madness our recruiting will go beyond where it is today, which all things considered is very good.

Lane and Cook and Sony, it shows a message to the SEC teams and the future to local kids that UM is the place and to stay home. Just the magnitude of getting these 3 scares everyone else and the trolling will begin, thats when u know we back.

U win more with good players or is it just coaching? I'll take talent all day just like the draft, position of need is at DT but landing those 3 would be a game changer. That would be breaking news on espn and everyone would say we are cheating again. Also u cant replace elite talent just because a SFLA kid leaves doesnt mean u can plug another SFLA player and he would do the same NO WAY. Thomas Bostwick Collins Bryant cant be replaced no matter which name took over there spot sorry, true story and im pretty sure the staff knows that.

We are known for adjusting to times we change things so we have to adapt and if the SEC is doing dirt we gotta do dirt when the NCAA gets off our *** period. AG has been ok on gameday better than RS but he failed on NSD last year and u can see it on his face during interviews. We have to have a good season on the field and we have to lock up elite kids from SFLA year after year after year, u cant skip a year if u want to be what we were in 99 - 03.

Imagine if Duke J wasnt a hard core UMfan and we lost him to a SEC team............ Imagine
An elite Duke Johnson leaving SFLA and everyone on here saying if you dont want to be a cane you'll get beat by us bullshyt.........If the ELITE Duke Johnson wasnt here last season we would have won 3 to 5 games and the passing attack would be nada without him.

At the end of the day its about getting elite kids,if u miss OOS I cant get mad, but on your home fkin turf cmon man.

Dwinstitles
You, Jhall, and a few others on here a really good posters. I usually agree with ya'll on most things. But as far as us winning 3 games without Duke I don't know about that. Mike James could've been a 1000+ yard rusher. I believe he had the best vision of our backs. Duke breaks the 10+ yard plays so his YPC was high. On a HB Dive I would rather Mike James Run it because I believe James would get the necessary 5-10yards. Duke would probably get 2-3 yards which we have seen last year and is really evident.
That's not saying Duke is not a GREAT back at all. I don't care what the stats read about his YPC I want to see it on the field him looking for the extra yardage and blockers ect. A Few plays last year he out ran his blockers which negated him from more yards and Touchdowns.

It's nothing against Duke before someone comes at me with some BS. I know Duke is the best we've had in years. But every single player no matter what level has things they need to work on. I don't believe Duke is a short yardage back and it's NOT because he's small. I don't buy the whole you have to be a big back to gain short yardage. Look at Darren Sproles who's an excellent short yardage back.

So we'll just agree to disagree there.

EDIT: Just re-read my post. I'm not saying Duke doesn't have good vision. I just mean as far as vision in short-medium yardage situations. He obviously proved he has vision last season.

Fair, I don't Clark has THAT much more potential than Valentine. Once summer visits are over and HS football starts everything will become a lot more clearer.

I'd put Chad Thomas at #1. We need push rushers in the worst way and he looks like he would be a stud at WDE. From his film, he looks like he has it all.

Our O put up points in a hurry, and with the type of athletes we are recruiting, absolutely nothing suggests that will change. We are bringing in quality DBs and LBs already. We need interior DLs but you can always find those in JUCOs. Moving forward, we need pass rushers!!! No more shootout against DUKE.

Current commits

1) Yearby
2) KC
3) Kaaya

Kids we are going after

1) Dixon
2) Clark
3) Thomas

The no-doubt, stud, contribute-early, not-a-headcase-or-lazy-bum defensive tackle monster to be named later. Don't care which one, just get one.

We haven't landed a bigtime JUCO DT/impact guy in a bajillion years.

I agree with your premise, but realistically I can't bring myself to pin my hopes on guys we most likely won't land
