Guys, we need to stop tweeting these kids. Retweet all you want, but stop trashing kids publicly on twitter for decommitting. Seriously, how ignorant can we be, each time we do this we make ourselves look bad. We are a private University that has a tuition cost of over 30K a year, it is a privilege to attend this school, so as a fan base start acting like it. We need to be better than the competition, and stop fighting with 17/18 year old kids or young men on a public forum like twitter. We are being trashed by kids for this and they have more influence within their fellow commits or prospects to sway them to schools than we do. We need to understand that these kids don't care how badly you want them here, you can show them love for months, but all they will remember is the 1 guy that trashed them. When we trash them as a fan base they get in each other's ears to play somewhere else together. Nigel is already tweeting DJ to visit Tech and DJ is tweeting that people need to stop hating on Nigel. Lets man up and grow up, we are adults and they are kids, so lets act accordingly!

Not on the Twitter...why can't these kids make their accounts private or block people?

Nice try, but you're fighting a battle you can't win. Even if all of the idiots just on this board stopped tweeting, there would still be countless others, many of which aren't even Cane fans. At this point, it seems to me like the onus is on these kids to understand that most of what they see on twitter (and these message boards) is nothing but crap written by other kids.

Social media is a huge part of these kid's lives and whether you believe it or not, what kids read on twitter has an impact on their views/opinions of schools.

People want to downplay this, but it definitely makes an impact

Don't worry, all the guys on here that do it say it shouldn't effect them and if it does they have soft shoulders.

Pete, if it does effect recruits, why don't you guys clean up this board? Plenty of posts trashing recruits.

I put this in another thread, but more applicable here. I know this is going to look like a justification, but it's not. This is merely an observation based on psychology and behavior.

Very tough concept here. I'm serious. You're essentially asking fans to not act fanatical about the team that these kids turn down. Remember, and I know this is so hard to believe, but these kids really don't mean anything to fans other than they are going to play football for them. It's a double edged sward. On one side, it's really sad what recruiting has become; a bunch of grown men fawning all over 17-18 boys because they can play a game. They shower them with praise and hang on their every word. On the other side, these fans don't owe anything to these kids once they spurn their school (and vice versa). Asking fans not to react because a kid turns down their school (especially if there is any disrespect or games) is absurd. I'm not condoning the actions of any fans that act his way, but you have to see it for what it is. People take this very very seriously and personally. It's almost like an affront to their family as hard as that may be to believe. These kids owe the fans nothing in terms of commitment, but they can't be all in their feelings when fans act like fans. Just my two cents.

Between the tweets and the post disrespecting the coaches and recruits this cant be helpful for um. Cleaning the board would be nice. If I want to see a board thats trashed with post about nothing but ignorant bull**** then I can just stay on canesport

LOL. Every school does it.... not just Miami. Doesn't mean it's right. Social media is a bad, bad thing.

Yeah and when Demetrius Jackson decommits and Powell doesn't come back and they cite the ****** comments they got or saw other recruits get look yourselves in the mirror you twitter cowards before you come on here and start trash talking the staff.

Reading Powells twitter he is gone. And his last 15 comments have been either him saying, in so many words, that the Canes fans that freaked out on him had no small part in helping his decision or retweets of others bashing Cane fans for that bull****. And of course Chad Wilson jumped in and had some **** to say telling Cane fans were gonna deserve the next decommit because the current commits ae watching what we say and not liking it. And I GUARANTEE at least 80% of the people who get on here and freak out and flip their **** every time a kid goes elsewhere are the ones on twitter bashing 17-18 year olds kids. You people need to get a life/hobby/gf/child/pet/pastime/Xbox something to occupy your time instead of losing your **** for the world to see at a kid on twitter.

It might not even be people from this board. Just harass the **** out of the people that tweet these kids so they stop.

I dont know why people even look at there twitters just let them make there decision and that's that.Fans ain't gunna influence a kid anyways.

The NCAA needs to ban prospects from twitter, maybe just in their senior year or something..
