OT - Redskins hiring first African American female assistant

Best person for the job. I've never retreated from that position. As long as they are truly the best person for the job, and no affirmative action bull was involved. Good luck to the gal.

...'African American'

Y'know, I remember in the 90's that 'colored people' was bad to say. Some people even bristled at 'African American'; citing that there was no way I could know their ancestry was from Africa, and I really didn't consider them true Americans by calling them 'African American' (Yeah, there were snowflakes back in the 90's). Then again, I spent some time out in California during the 90's, and people are nuts out there to begin with.

But nowadays, apparently 'people of color' is now considered appropriate...somehow. Which is *******. RIDICULOUS. Make up your damned mind.

I dunno, maybe I get a little sick and tired of hearing about companies and corporations hiring someone that isn't white and male, and patting themselves on the back as they do so. "Ooh, look at us, we hired <insert race/gender/sexuality person here>!" Big deal. All you're doing is treating the person you hired differently than anyone else; which is positively sexist and/or racist. And being sexist and/or racist, even if its well-intentioned, is not a good thing.

Signed,

The Casper-Peach Colored German-Irish-Heinz 57 American

And if you don't call me all of that, I'll be severely offended and you are being prejudiced and I'll go in the corner and cry in my snowflake safe space.
Who hurt you?

Did she play college or even highschool football?

as someone who did play both, I can promise you:

nothing is LESS important to a person being a good coach, than whether or not they "played the game."

please. this game is not rocket science. not even close. if it were, the college and NFL game wouldn't be littered with uneducated derelicts who couldn't read half the letters of the alphabet if you sounded it out for them first.

Not necessarily. Believe it or not, there are women who actually really like football. Most probably started out as grad assistants or interns, same as a lot of guys who are in the profession. Some might even have played HS football or possibly college. I went to a D3 college in the 1990s that had one of the first female kickers ever. Even if they didnt play ball, there are head coaches that never played college ball so that's not unusual.

The problem for the women is that no matter what they do or how much time they put in, some jerk off is going to say that the only reason they get hired is that the employers are trying to be "woke" or SJWs. Heres the thing- there isnt any demand by feminists to hire women into football. Movies, corporate ladder, broadcast news- yes. Football- no. There is a Rooney Rule for racial diversity, but it doesn't apply to interviewing women. The women who get hired actually earned it. And that "there were better candidates" argument is nonsense. The people criticizing didn't do the hiring or interviews.
They "earned" it? They probably earned it by being female.

Clever strategy by NFL which has long sought to increase female fan interest.

Give me a break. For every female assistant there's probably 500 young males in the coaching community who are better qualified.

Ok, cool. That's what I thought. My sister wants to coach the Cowboys.

- Dartmouth went 9-1 and finished second in their conference

Empirical evidence disagrees with you. But let's not let that get in the way of your red pill rant.

There is nothing theoretically impossible about a female being a good football coach. She might have a tremendous mind for the game. But I do have skepticism. And I will be honest and say that I would not be thrilled if a female were hired as a position coach at Miami. It would not strike me as a good idea on face.

A lot of people on this board would not be as positive if this were happening here.

i think you are right. In a vacuum, I don’t care. I hope she does well. I like trailblazers. If it were the U, I would be concerned about team chemistry and distractions and .... I hope someday it doesn’t matter. But let’s experiment elsewhere.

No it doesn't. Keep women out of coaching and especially out of the locker room.

Triggered.

I guess you'd be happy if UM hired its first ever female to coach WR's -- for the sole reason that she's a female. Would you rest assured knowing she was the best person for the job? Would you trust that she fully comprehended the intricacies, brutality, and physicality of the game without ever stepping foot on a field or taking a shot to the chin? Would hiring this said female put UM at an advantage or disadvantage from a developmental and recruiting standpoint? Most importantly, are you, TimeB0mb snowflake, even able/willing to think about these issues logically?
You just described Manny! Manny Díaz is our coach and never played...never taken a hit and can’t fully comprehend the brutality and physicality of the game because he never stepped foot on the field or took a shot to the chin

What high school did Manny play high school football for and what position did he play? Enlighten me, please. Lol
Miami Country Day. Football, baseball, and basketball. Miami Herald All Dade team honorable mention in all three sports but da baseball was his bestest sport, IMO.

No he wasn’t! Where are you getting this nonsense from? Lol

He played pop Warner football at like 7 or 8 years old and that’s it

So is this like carbon credit stuff? Hiring black female counts as X credits of Native American offenses? Would it be more or less credits if t was formerly white male who now identifies as black female? And the big question, does Al Gore make money on these credits too?
