OT recruiting (juco)

After seeing a lot of projections on here and ITU, i think what really stands out is that the poor recruiting from the Golden staff is still haunting us on the OL. This season we should still have McDermott at LT, Darling competing inside, Gauthier as a rJR and TSL at RT as a rJR. Not getting any JUCO help really hurt us in not being able to redshirt those guys, especially when it would mean them having another year under Gus and this staff. So as much as I want to criticize Searels, he is largely making due with what he has. Also, I think experience and games started is a very overlooked factor for this OL right now, we do not have a lot of starts collectively at all.

With that being said, I currently think this is our best lineup, and I think most would agree:

LT: St. Louis, Campbell
LG: Boulware, Mahoney
C: Gauthier, Mahoney
RG: Donaldson, Mahoney
RT: Scaife, Campbell

Next year, obviously very early but I think this is realistic but not ideal:

LT: Scaife-SO
LG: Boulware-rSR
C: Gaynor-rSO
RG: Donaldson-JR
RT: JUCO/Campbell-rFR
What really changes things next year is landing or missing on Evan Neal and the development of Cleveland Reed. If Reed can win the LG job we gain a lot more flexibility. I personally would love to have Boulware at C with Mahoney backing him up and Gaynor playing each OG spot. Neal likely gives us a starter at OT but he could play OG initially, especially since I don’t think he’s an EE.

10 JUCO Offensive Tackles FSU Could Pursue

I personally think with the loss of St Louis next year we should grab 1 Juco tackle to infuse talent at that spot. The young guys we currently have hasnt grabbed the spot and i feel as though Donaldson is currently being played out of position, though is servicable. There is atleast 3 south florida names that wouldnt be difficult pulls if we pushed in Kadeem Telfort, Willy Canty, Finley Felix to go along with Stringer Bell at OT.

Don't want Telfort...kid couldn't cut it as a Gayturd, don't want him on our squad...

Dudes like Hebert, Gaynor, and the dude from Georgia "Must" be ready by next season. Guys have been on campus for over 2 years at that point. It's now or never for that bunch.

Is there any chance that strong *** Moose kid gets in the rotation in the next year or two? We seem to have a problem getting pushed around in the interior of the line.

Regardless i think you need to bring in a grad transfer/juco Tackle. We look bad at that spot. Also when Hillery played this year they had him at guard

Eventually he’s too short to play T. He’s better suited for G. You will see the young T step up by mid year.

He’s a tad short but his arms are longer than most 6’5-6’6 guys. The arms make up for everything , he can get his hands on guys like he was a prototypical tackle.

I do think his money position is guard, he’ll probably slide inside if one of the young guys step up, or a transfer/ juco comes.

Neal probably takes the LT spot next year from the jump.

Either way Scaife is a insurance policy , he can play all fine spots and we’ll.
