Whipple is old & is retiring soon. Nebraska is paying him $900k. If the **** fails and Scotty gets fired next year, he gets one last big check & laughs off into the sunset

Three things at play here I bet:

1) $$$ and Whipple is in his mid 60s and I bet they guaranteed 2 years of the deal.

2) Narduzzi is a prick and slimy and Whipple doesn't want to be his fall guy when their offense regresses next year sans Pickett

3) Frost is seemingly an affable guy and he's desperate and HE'S the fallguy if **** doesn't work. If it DOES then Whipple get a lot of the credit and semi-hero status in a place where all they have is that team.
