Disagree. Contain is more about assignment and technique than speed. The edge guy is already there, they simply have to go upfield like 2-3 yards. Barrow could play edge be and fast enough to contain.
I disagree. He is another 3 tech/Bain, but a bit worse. Honestly #41 and #22 look more like Miami DEs than #4 and #3. Where is the length? Where is the range? Where is the change of direction? I'm watching guys that are big, strong, fast, and POWERFUL, but lack ANY wiggle or elusiveness around the end. Boy do we miss Phillips and Rousseau...even a Chad Thomas type would be a massive upgrade.
The problem is they are also getting no help from the corners. Has anyone seen a corner get off a block and blow up a screen? Like ALL year? We are so stupid to play man every play and always have our backs to the ball.
Not just the corners - safeties can't run the alley and LBs can't scrape and get to the edge. But it start upfront with DL keep gap integrity. They did not today in any way, shape or form. That includes DTs.

Is Mesidor really more athletic? Both seem like athletic 3 techs, but not DEs.
One seems more fast than the other on film currently. But they are both built as 3 techs.
Neither one of them should be playing inside really. They are doing it bc it’s wat the staff needs, Due to the lack of depth at DT. They both look slow at 275-280lbs. Staff needs to get some real DTs so they can play DE at 255-260lbs.
Agreed. Stunting in every play leaves lanes open and edges undefended over and over again. Its supposed to be used as a change up to straight up DL push, not an every down strategy
kancy played DT at Pitt at basically the same size he was 6’2 280 his last year. He dominated and Bain can absolutely do it
Do you actually watch games or do u just look at measurements and think bc they are similar they are the same type of player and move the same? Kancy came in to college around 270 already, Kancy is quicker, lighter on his feet, faster, and significantly better change of direction than Bain at that weight. They are not the same type of player at all. If the staff wants to improve that DL going forward, they would invest in some real DTs, which they had and let some quality depth go t to the portal, and Bain and Mesidor to slim down so they can be explosive DEs. Mesidor is every bit of 6’3, they have Bain listed as 6’3 as well, even if he was 6’2 that would be perfectly fine at the college level.
I think he's too athletic for Guidry's liking.
