One an Done in college football...

I agreed that the NFL can make the rule, and has. My point is simply that I think it is a bad rule. I don’t think Bryce Young should have to play more college football, or that Trevor should have been forced to play for 3 years.

The NFL can't make the rule. It can be collectively bargained which it has. The rule doesn't exist without the NFLPA's consent

i recognize I am making a largely theoretical argument.
I'm for your "let the market decide." I think it already did. The NFL and the players' union decided, for now, that letting an 18-19 year old kid fail gloriously or have the teams create a ****show of projections is potentially bad for their brand.

I understand and we know the NFLPA has to protect its current members. NBAPA did the same thing in agreeing to the 1 and done rule as opposed to kids entering straight out of high school.
You are correct that the issue is multi faceted.

I can’t disagree with your argument.

Just think about all the players that could've been one and done at Miami

Edge
Sean Taylor
Andre Johnson
Portis
Irvin
the list can go on and on... most had better freshman years
None of those guys started at Miami as a freshman. What makes you think they would be drafted

Imagine a 19 year old kid trying to block Aaron Donald or TJ Watt 😂 this is completely insane.
There are some, but very few, high school kids that can play in the NFL right out of high school. So few that I think it's a really stupid idea because so many will give up their college eligibility because of their fantasy of playing in the NFL right away. Slimy agents will get in their ear and convince them they will get drafted.

I've said for years that there should be an NFL farm system that can sign kids right out of high school. The one catch would be that whenever their playing days are done, the NFL team that signed them needs to pay for their college education. This way the young men get a real education, not used up by "schools" that pass them through to keep them eligible, while not teaching them a **** thing. See UNC a few years back.

Each NFL team can have a farm team, and I guarantee you people would go see their farm teams play. It would be far bigger than minor league baseball. It would also cripple teams like Alabama who are already buying their players. It would keep kids in college that are there not only to play football, but get an education.

Let's face it, right now certain "schools" have an unhealthy advantage over others, and this would instantly level the playing field. ****, it would give Miami a big advantage, because there would be zero reason to play football in backwoods Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, etc. At least at Miami you'd get a private education, and access to a **** of a lot more fun in your down time.

stop trying to destroy college athletics.
The vast majority of college players never make a dollar from the pros, legally anyway. If you let them go pro after a year not only will the percent drop further, they will also lose out on their college experience and education. That may be their chance at a better life after football.

Thank you Prime Time for opening up the doors to the HBCUs. Looking at all the coaches like Dabo crying about cheating and the transfer portal... No, lets see if you're a really good coach and stop making excuses b/c you had more talent..

Now it's time for college football to accept the one and done rule. I told you guys that the HBCUs are coming back in style. We don't care about the big fancy facilities, resources, and other chit.

problem is Maurice Clarett and Mike Williams already tried. They took the NFL to federal court and lost. They appealed to an Federal Appeals court (9th Circuit I think) and lost again. They tried to get the Supreme Court to listen to their case and were denied. That Supreme Court was a lot liberal than the Supreme Court we have now. No way in **** this court will ever consider taking up the case.

Even beyond that, no plaintiff lawyer or sports agent is going waste time and money on trying to fight this again.

BigDikCane is the worst poster on this board, which is saying A LOT

Exactly my point , players know it would be a blood bath for the kid and even worse for the product. Only a handful would cut it then would be stuck in the real world with no degree or any skill. Then the ones here defending 18 year olds would be like” look how cut throat those mean owners are, throwing these kids out on the streets”. They’re the victim on both sides of the coin lol.

But I thought “ we cared about the kids “ lol.

The vast majority who leave after 1yr would either go late or be UFAs and get squat $$. A small number of them will make a second contract and real money.

Anybody want to explain to OP that the NFL is who requires players to be out of high school for 3 years before declaring? Nobody HAS to go to college.

I can't think of any Hurricanes player that was ready after their freshman season. If I had to pick it would probably be Frank Gore who didn't even start.

As far as other teams

Adrian Peterson was ready I'd say. That's the only name I can think of that I'm 100 percent confident that could have turned pro after his freshman season

I bet if I asked you how many Canes could have entered the NFL after 2 years of college you could put some on the list;
Andre Johnson
Vince Wilfork

And If I expanded that questions to CFB players you could make a pretty long list;
Trevor
Fournette
Jamarr Chase
Herschel Walker
