On the OL offers...

Not even the Texas schools and their money seem to be able to hoard anything right now

Also not too sure on the development of our OL. Cooper started as a freshman. Bell started in his first year. Mauigoa obviously. Is that development? What about guys like McCoy, Kinsler, Tripp, Samson etc where we are still hitting the portal this hard?

Not saying we can’t or won’t (OL guys can and should take time) but where is this faith coming from? Genuine question not even trying to be a ****.
I've long mocked those that blindly vouch for whoever we offer. I wouldn't put Bell into the same category as Cooper yet. Cooper won his starting spot over the summer and Bell was thrown in after an injury. That being said I think we all see a large gap in talent/ability between Cooper and Mauigoa. My genuine question is when do we get to the next level with 3 or 4 Mauigoa level players?

Edit: Cooper started as freshmen at the end of season.

I agree I wouldn't put Bell into Cooper level yet…But he didn't win his starting spot over any summer…Stared towards end of Frosh year.

I have a feeling the G5 schools will be increasing the bills to play @P4 schools. They are going to lose a ton of talent every year to the portal/P4 schools. They are going to have increased costs to field teams due to the portal and now 105 ships.
the g5 schools are EATING out of the portal at a rate never before seen.

They now have cut back on their hs recruiting.

These will be some of the best g5 schools ever talent wise.

For example tulane had freaking Yulkeith Brown and Mario Williams on their roster.

they had no shot at thes types if it wasnt for the current situation. Even if its for a 1 year two year rental it makes sense.

Yeah I think it’s fair to say the line has improved significantly since the moment these guys got here but also gotta see what happens when these evals start coming through and to your point, if they show promise as a young guy and they don’t start can we keep them around?

Rivers was a good prospect and they got a lot out of him especially playing LT in a pinch. Bell was supposed to be a year away from playing but he played a lot even if it wasn’t the plan

2024 we took quite a few projects and evals so hopefully we keep it going. We are in early on some bigtime 2026 kids so that remains to be seen

Yeah don’t get me wrong say next year if McCoy becomes who the staff thinks he is and Cooper comes back, Bell, Mauigoa etc

That’s quite a mix of just pure freak talent and obvious evals and development

I’m optimistic

You can ask him from your @Charmin_Soft_maudes account in purgatory since @sharkindaawater and @cristoballs_cola didn’t work out so well.

Edit: @creamsoda and @fromdaswamp added

One of my few joys as a Maude is watching these crackheads who always say they don’t give a **** about a website come back around later like

5-7, 7-5, 10-2 Trust the process. I agree with Larry Bluestein. We need to give the guys we have in place a shot at QB. Bring a QB in from the portal, but let him know we are having an open competition. Focus on the defense. Let our crazy talented O-line and RBs win the ACC and go into the playoffs year 4.
Indiana went 3-9 in 2023 then went 11-1 and made the CFP in Curt Cignetti's first year.

They did
They also had 1 win for a team with a winning record
Still nice improvement but least deserving playoff team by far
Agree as far as playoffs, but to go from 3-9 to 11-1 at a school with no football history is eons better than going from 5-7 to 10-2 in 3 years. Just crazy how some say give Mario time and we're tracking in the right direction lol. Kenny Dillingham at ASU is another one who went 11-2, won the Big 12 and made the CFP in just his 2nd year at ASU AND his 2nd year as a HC

You know we’ve done this before with a coach who had a 1 year turn around good season . Judging a coach over 3 or 4 years is a much smarter proposition than judging on 1 year. The same was said about TCU and USC within the last few years. Remember all the people in here talking about Mel Tucker 😂. What about Mike Norvell? The new shiny toy example is almost always a bad take. Let’s see what these coaches do next year and the year after that…..

in comparison to lee carpenter was a step back ... i'd agree though, he was still solid
Oh fair enough, that’s a big role to fill in general. Thought he was a killer in the run game and his pass blocking was better than people expected.
