A quick note on the GOAT.

- Ed does want to be a HC. That is accurate.
- Ed was used as a Christmas tree ornament by Manny & Co. solely for recruiting purposes and he was never happy with that role.
- Ed was not allowed to coach in any way or even provide key feedback to players on performance by Manny.
- Ed felt marginalized by Manny and that arrangement was blessed by Blake James.
- It is likely that Ed won’t come back as of right now.

We should be thanking Ed and his love for the program while dealing with all of this political bullshat.

All this is as of yesterday morning. Will share updates as they roll in.

I thought Chief of Staffs weren't allowed to coach?

also, he got offered an HC gig (at a level where Deion started following his HS coaching career) and he said no so I call BS on wanting to be an HC.

We all knew his hiring was for optics…and if he wants to be a hc, maybe he should get into coaching?

he got the offer (**** he got a decently good one considering Deion coached HS before Jackson state) with no real coaching experience and he said no. he seems to want the big time gig without putting in the work to get it esp in coaching

You got to wonder how much Ed Reed wants to do. College football is a 24/7 365 job. Not sure if he is wanting to get that far in. Now, if he wants to, you find something for him. Having him in the program can never hurt.
if he wants to coach, hire him on as an analyst imo and let him learn the gig. if he wants to have a role, bring him on in some fashion as alumni relations or something

Didn’t he also say nobody would listen to him as a position coach? Seems our fans might overvalue what he can contribute if he thinks players won’t listen to him.

I've posted this before because the Ed Reed topic comes up every other month. At this point in his life, Ed says one thing then does another. Ed has his hands in a lot of different ventures (cigars, commercials, insta live DJ, seeing his family, chief of staff at UM? etc.) and does not have time to coach. Coaching is a 24/7 grind. Ed isn't committing to that lifestyle again after his playing days. He's just not. Not at a big boy power 5 level at least. I love Ed, he's my favorite player but he just isn't going to grind at this point as a coach.

Dont shoot messenger. Just sharing what I was told. Personally, I don’t think he’s coaching material. At all.
It’s painful to say because I love ER20, but I agree 100%. Him coaching is the equivalent of having a rocket scientist try to teach basic algebra or pre calc.

It’s always tough for this guys who were elite athlete who also have elite instincts/football intelligence to translate to coaching. They just see and feel the game way differently than the average D1 player. And guys like that lose their patience quickly with players who don’t perform at the level they did.
